Have You Had Your Chocolate "Son"day?
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Dana Rongione @ Friday, 10th October 2008 @ 9:52 PM

Building the perfect ice cream sundae is a creative process. Personally, I like to begin with a hot, fudgy brownie. On that, I place two scoops of chocolate ice cream, topped with nuts, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate cool whip, and if I'm feeling guilty, a shiny red cherry (for the nutritional value, of course). Did you notice a trend? What can I say? I'm a chocolate lover, and if I'm going to make a sundae, I'm going to make it right. After all, sundaes are ... more...

How to Hear God - You Can Hear God, God Wants You To Learn How To Hear Him
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Lynne Lee @ Friday, 10th October 2008 @ 2:05 PM

God is speaking all the time and you can learn how to hear God, it is much easier to hear God than you think. "For God does speak, now one way, now another, though man may not perceive it." Job 33:14 God is speaking to you in ways you often overlook. He has many ways of speaking and He doesn't always speak in the way that you expect Him to; that is one of the reasons why you don't realise that you already hear God more than you think. Most people hear God... more...

Have You Ever Said to God Find Someone Else?
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Penny Shellswell @ Friday, 10th October 2008 @ 8:58 AM

Moses has quite a lengthy chat with God about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt and is obviously hearing clearly what God says. But near the end of the conversation Moses says, 'O Lord, please send someone else.' Exodus 4 v 13 This seems an incredible thing to say to Almighty God, Creator of the Universe. Though how often do we perhaps say 'No' to God? It is a sad thing that many of us do not clearly hear the voice of God and spend time debating, was it of ... more...

Jesus With The Poor Helps Explain a Scripture Verse
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Douglas Michaels @ Thursday, 9th October 2008 @ 10:40 PM

Have you ever read a piece of scripture that just totally baffeled you on its meaning? That happened to me in Luke 12:33 where Jesus says, "Sell your possessions and give to the poor." Jesus is addressing His disciples, which means you and me. So what do I possess? I own a coat, a car, my kid's clothes, etc. These are things we need. Renting them is not an option. On the surface this looks like a stupid statement, but the Jesus I know does not make stu... more...

Are You Riding the Worry Train?
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Dana Rongione @ Saturday, 4th October 2008 @ 8:34 AM

One of the most familiar passages in the Scriptures is Hebrews 12:1-2 which reads, "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.&qu... more...

Three Places You Must See on Your Next LDS Tour
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Art Gib @ Friday, 3rd October 2008 @ 10:27 AM

When thinking about Mormons, most people will think about the state of Utah. In fact, some people might think that Mormonism was founded in Utah and that it is the only place the LDS faithful have ever lived. LDS tours would then, therefore, be a rather boorish ride through Salt Lake City. Quite to the contrary, members of the LDS faith live all over the world. Mormon history actually begins with a family in Jerusalem that travels to the Americas according to the LDS scripture, The Book o... more...

How to Get Over the Pain of Losing a Loved One
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Jinger Jarrett @ Tuesday, 30th September 2008 @ 2:33 AM

If I could point to one year in my life that I consider to be the worst, it would definitely be 2005. The death of two of my grandchildren, as well as a whole lot of other things that happened is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Although it was hard losing my granddaughter Ava, I accepted it with a certain amount of grace. God is far wiser than I am. However, when my grandson Brayden died about six weeks later, I lost my will to live. I wanted to die, and suicide s... more...

Are Some Modern Day Psychics Biblical Prophets
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Frederick Gimino @ Friday, 26th September 2008 @ 5:27 PM

Are biblical prophets relegated to the annals of history? Some religous zealots would say absolutely. However, modern psychics have much in common with the prophets of the bible. Even diehard religious zealots have to admit that biblical prophets had the ability to see the future through dreams, visions, and the revelations of angels. So, why is it incredulous or blasphemous to believe that this phenomenon occurs, in modern day society? Has the God of the old and new testament forsaken ... more...

All About Noah And The Great Flood
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Rachel Yoshida @ Monday, 22nd September 2008 @ 10:01 AM

Since we were little children, if we were brought up in a Christian home, we have heard about Noah, his family, the animals, and of course, the great ark that he and his sons built from gopher wood. It is said that the measurements were sent to him directly from God. It took Noah and his sons many years to complete the building of the ark and to gather the animals and supplies that they needed to survive the great flood that God told Noah was coming. The story goes that as Noah and his of... more...

Because there are so many doctrines that have been added to the Christian faith, many may be confused about what Christianity actually teaches. Here are five essential teachings Christians need to understand. 1. Without the Resurrection, Christianity doesn't exist. The core belief of Christianity is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. All About Water Baptism And The Christian Church
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Rachel Yoshida @ Friday, 5th September 2008 @ 4:52 PM

There are countless different religions around the world, but the one that seems to go into almost any nation is Christianity. Whether you are a Christian or not, you have to realize the impact that one man, Jesus Christ, had on the world when he walked the earth for only thirty three years or so. We was not a scholar with even the education of the time to speak of, but the wisdom of his words and parables are repeated many times by even those who do not necessarily believe that he was the son o... more...

The One Major Hindrance to Receiving Healing
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By William Nugent @ Thursday, 4th September 2008 @ 8:32 PM

A strange phenomena has appeared in healing and revival meetings. Unbelievers just off the street receive miraculous healings while devout born-again Christians who've been suffering for years go home sick. Many, including myself, have pondered this for years. In this article I will offer a unique insight from the scriptures that speaks to the issue of why so many devout Christians stay sick. I believe the reason has to do with holding bitterness and unforgiveness toward th... more...

Celtic Advent Wreaths Help Keep Irish Family Traditions
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Beth Guide @ Thursday, 21st August 2008 @ 8:08 PM

A Celtic Advent Wreath is a wonderful home holiday decoration tool that uses traditional advent candles or some use dark and light green tapers in place of the purple and pink. The Celtic Advent and the Easter Orthodox Advent or Nativity fast last for 40 days and starts mid November but most Advent wreaths have a maximum of 5 candles. In the original tradition, advent was a period of 40 days and not just four weeks. The four week period was introduced in the middle ages. The celtic tradi... more...

Celtic Advent Blends Cultures
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Beth Guide @ Wednesday, 20th August 2008 @ 11:51 PM

Celtic Advent in the pre Nicene church, early Christianity that pre-dates the Nicene Creed, the roadmap of what Christians, Catholic and Protestants believe. was very different than what we celebrate in the modern time. First Celtic Christianity participated and flourished in this period right up though the middle ages and had its own unique way of celebrating the season of Celtic Advent. The Celtic Church was given this name to describe the period before the missionaries arrived. St. P... more...

Real Presence of Christ is in the Eucharist
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Beth Guide @ Wednesday, 20th August 2008 @ 10:08 PM

The Catholic Church, since its inception, has always believed in the Real Presence of Jesus in the form o the Eucharist. As a child celebrates their first communion, they too are about to take part in this honored tradition. The Eucharist is the one sacrament that is representative or Christs sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection. The Mass is the vehicle that gives us this special presence. The teaching that communion was the presence of Jesus and not a symbol goes back the to the ... more...

Advent Candles Lights Path to Christ
Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Beth Guide @ Wednesday, 20th August 2008 @ 9:20 PM

The candles that make up the advent wreath hold a special symbolism. In their color, their composition and just the sheer act of lighting the candle of advent wreath breaths a air of hope into each of the nights that make up the season of Advent. Advent starts by counting backwards the four Sundays. This also is the beginning of the new liturgical calendar year for the church. The feast of Christ the King is the official start and usually runs as the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. As t... more...

Religion and Spirituality » Christianity | By Paul Hata @ Tuesday, 19th August 2008 @ 5:47 PM

Perhaps it is the dream of every community to put up a youth activities center for their teens. A lot of youths are now into some things that older people call dark activities. Just by looking at a teenager, you can immediately tell if he/she is troubled. Teens who are too obsessed with youth-related fashions, drugs, alcohol, rock music, etc. are wrecking their lives, one way or another. If the community leaders want to provide the youth with more constructive and healthy activities, a y... more...
