Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Dean Caporella @ Tuesday, 20th February 2007 @ 5:30 PM

Taking a cruise should be the holiday of a lifetime for many people and usually, it is. However, many people are usually in too good a mood to factor in the possibility of sickness becoming a factor during the cruise and who can blame them. Cruise ship sickness is real though and in recent years, is becoming a little more prevalent. This is understandable when you consider more people than ever are choosing to cruise given the fantastic deals on offer most of the time. Sea sickness, gast... more...

Picking The Right Cabin For You
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Ann Childs @ Tuesday, 20th February 2007 @ 1:42 PM

The most common questions that are posed to me are in reference to selecting a cabin. Everyone wants something for nothing. For newbies they just want to know what is the difference between the different types of cabins. Most cruise lines seem to offer a bevy of cabin categories to choose from but really there are only four main ones. Inside, outside balcony and suite. Inside cabins are those that do not have a window. There is one caveat to that on some Royal Caribbean ships there are i... more...

Cruise Ships On The Rise
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Charlie Welf @ Monday, 19th February 2007 @ 4:52 PM

It used to be that ocean-crossing vessels were the primary means to getting people from place to place at sea. Now they are hardly used and instead replaced with cruise ships. Just like the ocean-crossing vessel, the cruise ship takes its time going across the ocean. Since air travel is so much faster, crossing by water is used more for relaxation and enjoyment rather than as quick transportation. To raise interest in the cruise ship as transportation, the ocean-going vessels would l... more...

How To Avoid Sea Sickness On A Cruise
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Ann Childs @ Tuesday, 13th February 2007 @ 7:45 PM

The pleasure of cruising along on open water with the sea breeze blowing at tropical temperatures is one that every person should be able to experience without the unpleasant side effect of nausea. I suffer from motion sickness from a variety of different sources. Even movement on a television screen makes me sick. Or when someone who is sitting nearby nervously shakes their leg. Elevator rides make me nauseous and horse back riding too. I have been sick to my stomach on a small fish... more...

Book a Last Minute Cruise and Save Money
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Clark Norton @ Sunday, 11th February 2007 @ 4:09 PM

Many cruise lines, travel agents, guidebook writers, and "cruise tip" websites will try to convince you that booking a cruise as early as possible will result in the best discount cruise deal. Not true -- you'll often save more money when you book a last minute cruise. Passengers who book a last minute cruise may save hundreds -- or even thousands of dollars -- more than passengers who book their cruise many months in advance. That's because the hottest deals and... more...

5 Countery Scandinavian Cruise Journal
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Susan Davis @ Sunday, 11th February 2007 @ 3:19 PM

I've cruised dozens of ships on various lines and in my opinion this is as good as it gets on a mega-liner of 2200+ passengers with 920 crew. Costa's Atlantica was a floating palace of art deco furnishings, marble inlaid floors and millions of dollars invested in original works of art. It exceeded my expectations. Also I normally loose weight on cruises shunning the ships artificial fare. This time I over indulged on varied menus of fresh food. I ate enough prosciutto and ice cream to ... more...

2007 is a Great Year for Cheap Cruises
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Craig Rad @ Saturday, 10th February 2007 @ 3:59 PM

First of all, you have a great chance of getting a cheap cruise by searching the Internet for last minute deals. These are bargains that are available a few days or weeks prior to the departure of the ship. A good time to look for cheap tickets would be 60 days before the cruise begins. This is because most cruise lines have the rule that people can cancel their reservations up to 60 days before the departure without having to pay penalties. This is the right moment for you to jump in an... more...

A Brief Guide to Bermuda Cruise
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Lars Rohde @ Thursday, 8th February 2007 @ 6:47 PM

We all have heard of the mysteries of Bermuda triangles and the rich pink beaches of Bermuda islands. But most of the people are uninformed of its exact geographical location. While some are of the opinion that it might be located somewhere in the Caribbean's, the others speculate that it might be an Australian island. The fact of the matter is Bermuda islands are located in the North Atlantic, and North Carolina is just 570 miles away from these islands. Bermuda is indeed an lump o... more...

Book Early for a Great Discount Cruise Deal
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Clark Norton @ Tuesday, 6th February 2007 @ 7:03 PM

Nothing makes cruise lines happier than convincing passengers that booking their cruise early is their best chance to land a great discount cruise deal. Selling as many cabins as early as possible helps the cruise lines in their planning and means they don't have to worry about whether or not a particular ship will fill up. So to encourage passengers to book cruises as far in advance as possible, cruise lines will often offer plenty of incentives, such as "two-for-one&qu... more...

How to Save Money on Your Cruise Shore Excursion
Recreation and Leisure » Travel » Cruises | By Clark Norton @ Thursday, 1st February 2007 @ 4:56 PM

Visiting ports of call can be among the highlights of any cruise. But if you aren't careful, you could actually end up spending more for a cruise shore excursion than for the initial price of the cruise itself. An organized cruise shore excursion purchased through your cruise line can vary in price from around $30 or $40 per person for a basic two- or three-hour bus tour to upwards of several hundred dollars for an adventure travel jaunt. But you'll often find that you ... more...

For those of you who are uninitiated out there let me inform you that Disney is not just a theme park and the Disney Wonder is not just a cruise ship. The Disney Wonder was built in 1999 and holds about 1700 passengers. It is 83,000 tons of family oriented fun. There is also a dining venue, swimming pool and nightclub for adults only. The only down side to a Disney cruise is that there is no casino on board as gambling does not fit into the Disney image . Other than that as usual Disney does it ... more...

Just north of the Caribbean there is a dreamy place made up of 8 islands and numerous cays. The Turks and Caicos islands are located just south of the Bahamas and about 500 miles south of Miami, FL. The three most visited islands here are Grand Turk, North Caicos and Providenciales or Provo as it is commonly known. The entire island of Grand Turk is only 6 miles long and 1 mile wide.
