Top Ten Wide Receivers in the NFL
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Friday, 28th November 2008 @ 3:17 AM

Here is my list of the the best Wide Receivers in the NFL during the 2008 season. 10. Steve Smith: Has great experience as he's been to a Super Bowl. Has been good throughout most of his career. This season he has four touchdowns and nearly 700 yards receiving. 9. Santana Moss: More streaky than others on this list. You never know when Moss is going to beat you deep, but when he does, look out! He averages about 14.3 yards per reception. 8. T.J. Houshmandzadeh: It is ab... more...

How to Make Football Helmets Safer
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Dick Moss @ Saturday, 22nd November 2008 @ 8:14 PM

When head and neck injuries occur in football, the player's face mask may need to be removed quickly in order to maintain an open airway and immobilize the spine. However, according to a study by the National Athletic Trainers' Association, problems with the screws that anchor the facemask often makes speedy removal difficult. The most common problem is screws that spin in place instead of moving outward on their threads. The NATA study identified types of screws and helm... more...

Fantasy Football Draft Tips To Dominate Your League
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Joseph Carducci @ Saturday, 22nd November 2008 @ 5:41 AM

The following are some great draft tips for you to put into place with your fantasy football league: Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #1 Do not assume that last year's stats will translate into the same level this year. You really need to research each player and position. Look at things like trends and trades. For example, if a player has gone on to another team, this may affect his stats for this year either up or down. So, just don't draft on the basis of last year. Do your r... more...

College Football vs NFL
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Saturday, 22nd November 2008 @ 12:54 AM

The NFL has had its good seasons, but this year it has let me down. Where is the drama? Where is the excitement? No arch rivals since Tom Brady is out. The Titans are the most boring undefeated team I've ever seen. There are no super stars on that Tennessee Team. If it had been Vince Young leading the glorious charge, things would be different. This year college football has had it all. Dramatic one second losses by the Texas Longhorns. Upsets of USC by Oregon State. Even Penn State ... more...

Tim Tebow Will Win Another Heisman
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Wednesday, 19th November 2008 @ 11:26 AM

This Florida Gators Quarterback will become only the second player to ever receive two Heisman trophies. The other was running back Archie Griffin of Ohio State. Tim Tebow won it last year as a sophomore becoming the youngest player to ever win the prestigious award. He is in good standing to make history. First off, Tebow is the only player in the SEC that is close to winning the award. This helps because the votes will be all slit up between the four different Big 12 players that are up... more...

Top Ten NFL Head Coaches
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Tuesday, 18th November 2008 @ 6:50 PM

Here is my list of the ten most crafty, genius, and fiery, head coaches. Oh yeah and winning helps their rank too. 10. Jon Gruden: "Chucky" as he's known around the league for his hot headed temper and wild antics. Keyshawn Johnson actually thought he could chew out Gruden once, he didn't make that mistake twice. I thought Gruden was gonna kill him, literally. But despite that, Gruden knows how to craft high powered offenses with little talent. Look what he did with the ... more...

Big Fall For Wisconsin Badgers Football
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Monday, 17th November 2008 @ 7:25 PM

The Wisconsin Badgers were ranked number eight in the fourth week of this year's college football season. Now they are 1-5 in conference and at the bottom of the Big Ten teams. That is one of the biggest drops I've ever seen for almost any team. It compares to the Michigan Wolverines dropping out of the rankings last year after losing to Appalachian State. Michigan had been ranked fifth in the preseason. Both are remarkable drops. Most projections had Wisconsin at second right behind O... more...

Is Harry Redknapp Right for the Spurs Job?
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Musa Aykac @ Sunday, 16th November 2008 @ 12:12 AM

Tottenham have lately been changing managers a lot. But this season saw the worst start the club has seen for a very long time. Tottenham Hotspurs are at the bottom of the premier league and the odds of them finishing in the top four are very far fetched. But can Tottenham turn things around? Come out of the relegation area and qualify for Europe this year? Well lets take a look at there demise, and then have a look to see if Harry Redknapp is the right man to lead Tottenham back to their glory ... more...

Ten Worst Teams in the NFL
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Saturday, 1st November 2008 @ 9:47 AM

Through the midway point of the 2008 NFL season, this is the list of the worst teams in the NFL. They are categorized from least worst to the worst. 10. San Diego Chargers: The Chargers have struggle with LaDainian Tomlinson to get the running game going this year. It seems in his last game in London he started turning on the afterburners. But will it be enough to get his team into the playoffs this year? 9. Minnesota Vikings: If you can't get the passing game going, it's... more...

Top Ten Teams in the NFL
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Sunday, 26th October 2008 @ 11:27 AM

Here is my description of the top ten teams in the NFL. This season looks to be a roller coaster and a lot of teams will have trouble staying on top of this list. This was written after week seven so things may change from now to later in the season. 10. Dallas Cowboys: They are 4-3 in their division, and that is one tough NFC East division. The Redskins and Giants make for tough competition. Plus the Eagles don't just rollover on teams. They have struggled lately, due in part to inj... more...

Top Ten Offenses in the NFL
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Friday, 24th October 2008 @ 7:45 AM

Here is my description of the top ten offenses in the NFL. This list is based on offensive statistics. This was written after week seven so things may change from now to later in the season. 10. Philadelphia Eagles: While they may be struggling to win games, that doesn't make their offense any less potent. Donovan McNabb is practically throwing over 200 yards a game. Rookie wide receiver Desean Jackson usually leads the way in stats for the wide out core. Their key divisional losses ... more...

Texas Longhorns Gore Missouri Tigers
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Tuesday, 21st October 2008 @ 1:59 PM

Anyone that had any doubts about the Texas Longhorns being at number one can now forget them. Texas showed that they were tenacious and not letting go of their position on top of the ranking charts. The last time Texas wowed me like this was when Vince Young won the National Championship. I mean they made Missouri look like a division two team in the first half. Texas played near perfect football in the first half with no penalties. They scored touchdowns on five consecutive drives in the... more...

What's The Deal With The Cowboys
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Monday, 20th October 2008 @ 9:26 AM

These guys are always in the news. It's almost like they're starving for attention. Pac Man Jones just got suspended for four games for getting in a fight with his bodyguard at a hotel party. Jerry Jones knew the risks when he hired him on and now they are coming back like angry bees. In the Cowboys game against the Cardinals, Romo fractured his pinkie on his throwing hand. Then Brett Favre called him yesterday saying he should play if he can help it. So since everyone's id... more...

Top Ten Coaches in College Football
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Sunday, 19th October 2008 @ 8:55 PM

Here is my description of the top ten coaches in college football. Awarded based on style, wins and turning a team around. 10. Mark Mangino of Kansas belongs here for keeping his team with a winning record the past two years in a very tough Big 12 conference. They also won their bowl game against Virginia Tech last year. They currently have a 5-1 record and look to do well again this year. 9. For his second year at 23-3 coach Chris Peterson is doing extremely well with his Boise St... more...

Football Pads: More Is More
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Victor Epand @ Tuesday, 14th October 2008 @ 10:48 PM

It is interesting to observe how athletes approach the potential for injury in sports. Some sports, such as ruby, are played with almost no protection, at least relative to the potential injuries that can occur. In such sports, pain and suffering considered simply part of the game, a badge of honor that you played well and didn't back down. Other sports use rules to protect the players. Soccer, for example, uses minimal protective equipment, but the rules prevent the players from hitting or... more...

2008 Red River Shootout Game
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Tuesday, 14th October 2008 @ 9:07 PM

Its hard to say with the cheapest tickets going for almost $200 that those people got their money's worth. They did get it, if you can put a price on awe-inspiring football. Some people are calling this #1 OU vs #5 Texas the greatest game they have ever seen. I still think the OU vs Boise State bowl game 2 years back was better because of all the trick plays plus the amazing comeback. Texas started out looking like they were in trouble in the first half. They were trailing for the mo... more...

Top Ten Defenses in the NFL
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Tuesday, 14th October 2008 @ 7:55 AM

Here is my description of the top ten defenses in the NFL. This season looks to be a roller coaster and a lot of teams will have trouble staying on top of this list. This was written after week three so things may change from now to later in the season. 10. Arizona Cardinals: They have some of the sickest safeties in the league. We're talking Adrian Wilson and Antrel Rolle. The corners are not bad either. I mean they got Rodgers Cromartie as well as other consistent players. They wo... more...

Dallas Cowboys Tame the Bengals
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Monday, 13th October 2008 @ 9:05 AM

It's not many times I get to go to Dallas cowboys games. I had been to one about 5 years ago for the Thanksgiving game and then also a preseason game two years ago. Tickets are getting more and more expensive and they are only going to get worse when the new stadium arrives next year. The Cowboys must have listen to my last post about them. I wrote they needed to give the ball to Felix Jones more. Well sure enough he got it plenty of times and scored a touchdown. He average 10.7 yard... more...

Oregon State Surprises USC Trojans
Recreation and Leisure » Sports » Football | By Clarke Baldwin @ Friday, 10th October 2008 @ 7:33 PM

The USC Trojans lost on the road to the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday night football. They lost to an unranked team that didn't even have a shred of hope to defeat these rock stars of football. This was no last second comeback or triple overtime nail biter. The Beavers were up by 21 at the half! I repeat 21 at the half! As I watch this I thought to myself what did the Trojans lay down and die? There is always a reason for upsets but this seems to be an insane one. They were... more...
