Psychology | By Gloria Arenson @ Thursday, 11th March 2010 @ 5:03 PM When it's time for the holidays or a family reunion do you cringe at the thought, but go anyway? Your mom will find fault with your hair, your job or the way you are bringing up your kids. Your dad might pick a fight with you or boast about how much money your brother makes while you are barely getting by. You know that you will have a terrible time and perhaps eat too much or drink to dull the pain. When I ask clients to tell me who in their life has had the most negative effect on... more...

Psychology | By Rosemary Lichtman, Ph.D. @ Monday, 8th February 2010 @ 6:58 PM

And feelings of shock are giving way to disappointment and anger that relief efforts are so slow. more...

Psychology | By John Chambers @ Thursday, 4th February 2010 @ 1:17 PM Neuro Linguistic Programming is a topic of great interest to a lot of people as it precisely deals with the relationship between man's behavior, emotions and how man communicates and thinks. NLP doesn't help anyone or can't improve a person's life if it's not being applied to anyone. It is no secret to masters of NLP that the state of a person can be copied so to speak and applied on a different person to achieve the same outcome in that person. Mapping out how th... more...

Why Rigid, Stylized Interviewing Approaches Actually Inhibit the Flow of Information
Psychology | By Chip Morgan @ Tuesday, 26th January 2010 @ 9:52 AM Why Rigid, Stylized Approaches Actually Inhibit the Flow of Information. I get mad when I see training advertisements touting the latest and greatest confrontational style interviewing method. I get seriously pissed. Why? Because it's a bunch of horse manure and the people that advertise and promote the training know it too. They make a lot of money promoting this old-fashioned interview style but it's not nearly as effective as their exaggerated claims and they know i... more...

On Suffering and the Human Condition
Psychology | By Andrew Schneider @ Monday, 30th November 2009 @ 2:42 PM The most basic experience that all human beings have, which begins in the birth canal if not before, is that of pain and suffering or affliction. The fact of suffering, and how to deal with it and its effects, prompted the Buddha to present the Four Noble Truths. I like to refer to these as the facts of life. These are not dogmatic teachings, but excellent psychology that supports the spiritual journey. The first Noble Truth is that existence is painful because "all things arise and p... more...
Is Covert Hypnosis Real Or Is It A Myth?
Psychology | By Terri Davis @ Monday, 30th November 2009 @ 2:02 AM That depends on what you mean by 'real'. Most of the doubt about covert hypnosis and it's effectiveness has more to do with the poor quality training of most hypnotists, or the apathetic approach to their work that many hypnotists have. This can of course lead people to believe, after one or two failed attempts with hypnosis, that hypnosis doesn't work. The reason hypnosis fails is never because hypnosis doesn't work on the person. Everyone can be hypnotized, despite wha... more...

Dig what made him does not want to / refuse to apologize. Parents and teachers should be neutral, not side with the perpetrator or victim. If the siding, a rapproch... more...
Anger Management and Focus Strategies
Psychology | By Julie Landry @ Sunday, 8th November 2009 @ 7:42 PM If you are angry, try to focus your energy on taking positive action to address what is causing your anger. Sometimes this action involves breathing techniques to enable focus and control. Sometimes it involves learning to address another person to constructively express what causes your anger. Anger management does not invalidate anger or consider it inappropriate -- it just helps prevent ensuing reactions from becoming out of control, which is inappropriate. Becoming angry is not the an... more...
