The Types Of USA Visas To Reunite Families
Politics | By MIKE SELVON @ Friday, 9th November 2007 @ 9:28 AM

Under the current immigration laws that regulate the flow of immigrants into the US, there are two categories of USA visas that are issued: the non-preference visa and the preference visa. Those who are wanting to emigrate from their homelands and those who will benefit from either of these two types of USA visas will subsequently qualify to live and/or work in the United States. The applications for them are subject to a strict annual quota of 675,000 only. There is a preference ... more...

Making Your Vote Count for You: Evaluating Candidate Choices
Politics | By Jimmy Walker @ Friday, 12th October 2007 @ 4:26 PM

Do you ever notice how humble incumbents get when it is time for them to run for re-election? This is the only time when most elected officials pay any considerable attention to their constituents' needs. How can you increase your odds of voting for a candidate that is more likely to make changes that will positively and personally benefit you? The internet (search engines, blogs, YouTube, etc.) is a great resource for compiling information on nearly any candidate running for offic... more...

Grants For Non-Profit Organizations
Politics | By Steven Gwillim @ Thursday, 11th October 2007 @ 1:05 AM

There are many different jobs in non profit organizations, but anyone who has worked at any level knows how important grant applications are. Funds for non profits are notoriously unreliable. Some years, if there is a president who is friendly towards charitable work, research, and other socially beneficial programs, grants for non profit organization are plentiful. As a matter of fact, some administrations make non profit grants so available that not all of the money is used up ... more...

The Cold Hard Truth About Criminal Profiling
Politics | By Steven Gwillim @ Thursday, 11th October 2007 @ 1:03 AM

When a crime is committed, a profiler studies all the aspects of the crime or series of crimes in an attempt to understand the personality, behavior and motive of the perpetrator. This criminal profiling, combined with physical evidence, has had a lot of success in apprehending the criminal. Police forces around the world, including the FBI, take these experts very seriously and value their input. There are some criminal psychologists however, who are skeptical about the effectiveness of... more...

The Dilemma Faced By Hillary Supporters
Politics | By Ed Lathrop @ Tuesday, 9th October 2007 @ 5:45 AM

Though the Democrats have not yet officially chosen who will run on the top of their ticket in 2008, there is absolutely no doubt Hillary Clinton will get the nod at the Democratic National Convention late next August in Denver, Colorado. The boring and meaningless primary between John Edwards, Barrack Obama and Mrs. Clinton continues to slog on, gathering about as much interest as a "My Mother the Car" marathon at a MENSA meeting. Having been a foregone conclusion for 8 years, t... more...

Judges Rule With Political Agenda
Politics | By Michael Dappert @ Thursday, 12th July 2007 @ 9:05 PM

On July 6 there was an article on the Washington Times website about a ruling given by a federal appeals court panel in Cincinnati challenging the Bush Administrations claim to be able to conduct secret surveillance on individuals within the United States. The panel ruled in favor of the Bush side in a 2-1 ruling. In explaining the ruling the article also pointed out who had appointed each judge to their position on the bench. There was one judge appointed by former President Clinton... more...

Clinton, Edwards and Obama Using SMS in Primary Campaign
Politics | By Anthony Wayne @ Tuesday, 10th July 2007 @ 8:07 AM

Seems text messaging has caught on in the Campaign for Presidential Nominee. Hilary Rodham Clinton announced in May that she would use SMS to garner support for her campaign. The "mobile-to-mobile text-messaging push" targets the 230 million Americans who use cell phones. Her efforts signal she is hunting for every possible vote in her battle for top nominee spot against rival Sen. Barack Obama. Supporters of Clinton can send the word "JOIN" to short code 77007 and will... more...

President Searching With a Fine Tooth Comb
Politics | By Ajeet Khurana @ Saturday, 9th June 2007 @ 8:11 AM

With the race for the President's post heating up, the question on everybody's mind is "Who will be the next President of the United States?" And this is not merely a question that remains limited to the minds of its citizens. The size of the United States of America, in terms of both geography and economy, as well as the power it wields over the international affairs, makes its Presidential elections a matter of global concern. So will the 2008 elections herald a change... more...

Should Singapore's Gay Sex Law Be Repealed?
Politics | By Chris Chew @ Thursday, 17th May 2007 @ 1:36 PM

Singapore is a conservative country, its government repeated many times when the subject of its gay sex law is being discussed. The government explained that because of conservative population, it will not decriminalize the country's gay sex law or at least not in the near future. On April 12, 2007, Singapore Law Society tells the government that the retention of gay sex laws cannot be justified. The existing gay sex law with comments are as follows: Singapore Penal code secti... more...

I Dislike Bush & Co. More Than Lyndon Johnson or Richard Nixon
Politics | By Michael Dappert @ Friday, 4th May 2007 @ 11:35 AM

On the evening Lyndon Johnson dropped out of the 1968 Presidential it was a celebration. We could not believe it. If there was any politician that I loathed it was LBJ. He had lied about Vietnam. He had kept us in that war at the expense of tens of thousands of lives on both sides. My blood boiled when I would see LBJ or McNamara on TV talking about how they were keeping us safe from communism. LBJ was an old time politician. He had come up from nothing and meant to keep what he had.... more...

Power Polling: How to Win Elections and Customers
Politics | By Randy Gilbert @ Wednesday, 25th April 2007 @ 11:50 AM

"If you love proven money-making strategies -- then wow! You'll love this what I learned from this book, it's called, "The Power of the Vote." It's written by Douglas Schoen, and it's especially empowering in an area that is so important, but often so misunderstood --- Politics! If you say, "Politics aren't for me," then you're in for a surprise! Business people and entrepreneurs should not ignore politics, because there is o... more...

Getting Ready for Election Season
Politics | By Stephanie Foster @ Friday, 2nd March 2007 @ 12:26 AM

"Rabbit season!" "Duck season!" That old cartoon argument immediately comes to mind when I see people arguing about which candidate is best, who should run, etc. So much of what is said in politics boils down to arguments that really aren't much better than the one between Bugs and Daffy. Lots of noise, little care for facts. Politics is often a dirty business. These days pretty much any politician is getting money from someone. Even companies claiming to offer nonpar... more...

The Need For The Navy Reserve To Mobilize Sailors
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Monday, 19th February 2007 @ 1:17 AM

The Navy Reserve expects to mobilize sailors in the near future, according to briefing documents obtained by Navy Times and confirmed by Vice Adm. John G. Cotton, chief of the Navy Reserve. That figure means that nearly one in three available reservists, not counting those who have already been mobilized and and those listed as not deployable for medical, dental, or other administrative reasons, will mobilize during the next year for deployments ranging from six months to more than one year.more...

The Coast Guard Started The Courtesy Motoboat Examination Program
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Tuesday, 13th February 2007 @ 7:09 PM

In 1936 as Commandant, Admiral Waesche moved to solve the Coast Guard's problems one by one. In doing so, he turned to the solution of using recreational yachtsmen to assist the Coast Guard in solving the ever-growing recreational boating safety problem. In 1938 the Coast Guard provided assistance to over 14,000 cases of recreational boaters in distress. The majority of which were caused by the boaters lack of knowledge of boating fundamentals, equipment, and laws. So the Auxiliary w... more...

Europe And NATO Are Making Defense Efforts For Security Strategies
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Tuesday, 13th February 2007 @ 5:46 PM

A conference on European security has opened in Berlin. It is focusing on ways to effectively strengthen European defense efforts with a view to improving joint missions in crisis areas on the continent and elsewhere. The two-day conference in Berlin has drawn high-ranking politicians, NATO officials and EU defense experts and aims to highlight efforts to further harmonize defense cooperation within the North Atlantic Alliance and the EU's own defense initiatives. It is being held a... more...

Will America Patrol Iraq in Tanks?
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Thursday, 8th February 2007 @ 6:33 PM

Why doesn't America patrol Iraq in tanks? Canada had the same problem as USA regarding soldier deaths but now dominates in Afghanistan since we began patrol in tanks. The site of a column of tanks has totally belittled the Taliban and Iraq tactics they thought would work against Canada. Thankfully our Prime Minster is not a fool and therefore acted quickly. I really do not blame those Americans that want out. The many American deaths are discouraging. So why not bring in tanks to move about... more...

Air Force Ammo Troops And Weapons Loader
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Friday, 2nd February 2007 @ 10:56 PM

Ammo troops are the grunts of the Air Force, bottom of the barrel right above security forces and right below Armament. I'm Armament, so I can't really say much. Just like to take my chance to rag on my rivals! Ammo is the greatest job in the Air Force. My best years were working on munitions, and I have done it all. Yet, with out the ammo, the planes would be flying around a desert with nothing (no one even mentions kamikaze...), and the marines that called in the Arial support wou... more...

The Stryker Assault Vehicle
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Thursday, 1st February 2007 @ 6:58 PM

When the soldiers are interviewed about STRYKER, they praise it. Who knows what they really say. If they don't mix up the model of STRYKER when going' into Indian country, I hate to rely on a bunch of machines with just .50's mounted on top. The South African military has some good armored vehicles. The truth is that the Stryker may be transportable by C-130 but it does not arrive ready to fight as the vehicle must be partly disassembled for transport. Also 1/2" armor ... more...

Are Dual Citizens Subject to Military Call-up
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Wednesday, 31st January 2007 @ 6:22 PM

In the Selective Service facts they state that citizens living in some countries may be exempt from induction but they do not state the countries, nor have they responded to my email and phone inquiries, so I would to know if a Canadian citizen living in Canada at the time of a draft would be exempt. My son is a citizen of the USA and Canada. I know he has to register for SS, but is he exempt from induction if or when the US has a draft. I could not find this info on the government website.more...

AirForce C.A.P. Emergency Services Search and Rescue And New Radios
Politics | By Victor Epand @ Monday, 29th January 2007 @ 7:34 PM

C.A.P. Emergency Services exercises are known as SAREX's. The practice involves assembling a gathering of ground teams that coordinate search and rescue with Cap airplane crews. The U.S.A.F. calls Cap for an actual mission usually when an airplane is reported overdue or missing or when an emergency locator transmitter E.L.T. is monitored on an a/c vhf frequency. This activity is rewarding to Cap members who volunteer to help locate missing persons or provide rescue assistance in disasters. ... more...
