The constitution of a country is a lists of rulings that are officially put into place through the congress of a state that are put in place to govern the general populous. In order for these amendments to be made, there are certain procedures that need to be employed, which can sometimes follow irregular proceedings from what would be enacted for ordinary laws. Do Politicians Need To Go Undercover?
Politics | By Donald Fishgrab @ Wednesday, 10th March 2010 @ 9:11 AM

It has been educational and interesting to watch the new show, Undercover Boss. Corporate executives pose as a new employee starting in the company. They work for one day at various jobs in the company in various locations to gain an impression of what their employees experience. Thus far each show has revealed some serious problems, as well as some very good situations. Each executive has been surprised by their discoveries, believing that they had a much better idea of what occurred... more...

Assessing the Presidency of Barack Obama
Politics | By Craig Parker @ Wednesday, 17th February 2010 @ 2:43 PM

In the latter part of the 2008 Presidential campaign, there was a groundswell of enthusiasm and passion for Barack Obama. "Yes We Can" fever took off and people were excited for the first ever black President. They were excited for the eight years of George Bush to end and the return of a Democrat to the White House. Some 18 months down the track, the excitement isn't what it once was. Much of the fan and hype about "Yes We Can" has died down. It's like when t... more...

Politics | By Brian Jones @ Monday, 28th December 2009 @ 1:24 PM

The price for gas in most countries typically costs four dollars per gallon. Most companies selling oil gain hundred billion dollars every year. Most people would like to know the answer to the question, why is gas so expensive. Gas stations that operate everyday have a complex process of doing their transactions before they can even serve cars. 1. The first answer to the question why is gas so expensive is because of the three markets that can direct their prices namely, spot, contract... more...

How Safe is the Safe Schools Czar?
Politics | By Brian Jones @ Saturday, 19th December 2009 @ 11:37 PM

Reading the pedophilia fantasies and other smut that Obama's "Safe Schools Czar" Kevin Jennings and his organization, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) are pushing on American schoolchildren left me feeling incensed. This organization started out as Jennings' own personal project and has grown to be the mammoth organization that it is today, working towards making schools safe for all children, irrespective of their gender identity and sexual orientation.... more...

But the Emperor Has No Clothes!
Politics | By Donald Fishgrab @ Wednesday, 16th December 2009 @ 8:02 PM

In the children's story, The Emperor's New Clothes, a group of charlatans convince a vain emperor that they can make a suit of clothes that will enable him to always pick out the best people for a task because those who are unfitted for their job will be unable to see the new clothes. The emperor wanted to obtain the best possible advisors and workmen, and when the crooks finished telling him how wonderful the new clothes would look, and what a wise ruler he would be to take a... more...

Don't You Know That Egypt Is Destroyed Yet?
Politics | By Donald Fishgrab @ Monday, 7th December 2009 @ 1:51 PM

Chapters four through twelve of Exodus describe the plagues on Egypt that resulted in Israel being freed. Historically it takes place at the very end of the Middle Kingdom, shortly before the Hyksos domination around 1600 B.C. It is probable that the events listed in Exodus were major factors in the Hyksos being able to conquer Egypt even though they were rather weak. The story provides some interesting parallels to the present situation in the United States. Some 430 years before, the... more...

Crises Can Open Opportunities For Loss Of Freedom
Politics | By Donald Fishgrab @ Friday, 4th December 2009 @ 2:21 PM

Crises, whether real or contrived, open opportunities for ignoring constitutional issues. With almost every state experiencing budget shortfalls, The Dow Jones newsletter Tomorrow's News Today predicts that states will be forced to lay off 900,000 employees to balance their budgets. Such conditions may well encourage leaders to act, without following due process. New Mexico is facing a $600 million shortfall for the current fiscal year. A special session of the state legislature w... more...

It's The Economy Stupid, It's All Good
Politics | By Fritz Pfister @ Monday, 23rd November 2009 @ 2:02 PM

All is well in the Land of Lincoln. The Springfield Illinois economy is doing better than most with unemployment second lowest in the state, home sales up, home prices up, and running on optimism. As the spokesperson for the University of Illinois Economics department said of their rating on the local economy, they are cautiously optimistic. A rating of 100 means economic growth, and they were excited because the rating has shot up to 70! Think of the grade scale when you were in s... more...

What Are We Reforming?
Politics | By Donald Fishgrab @ Friday, 13th November 2009 @ 3:22 PM

A lady went into the hospital for a common type of surgery. It was successful, and she received the bill for some $20,000 in just a few days. Her insurance was an 80-20 co pay policy, meaning she is required to pay 20% or $4,000. She paid her balance in full and assumed that the insurance company would take care of the rest. Months later, she received another bill for the balance. She also discovered that her credit rating had been lowered due the unpaid hospital bill, resulting in a substa... more...

The Great FDA Scam On E Cigarettes
Politics | By Heather Denada @ Thursday, 5th November 2009 @ 1:01 AM

It is a growing trend online and at local malls to see the new e cigarette for sale and people, both smokers and non smokers flocking to them as more and more information is released on the effect they are having on the population. Most of the smokers that have tried them swear by them with claims of leaving tobacco cigarettes behind and claims of better health and appearance to boot. There was even a study from South Africa that claims that 45% of the people who switched to the e cigaret... more...

Gaga Over Good News in Springfield, Illinois
Politics | By Fritz Pfister @ Wednesday, 4th November 2009 @ 8:23 PM

The official numbers were released by The Capital Area Association of Realtors (CAAR) for the month of September. It was great news both locally and nationally on home sales. The local market finished up 14.1% to 364 closed home sales, and the median sale price was up 7.9% to $109,000 September over September. Nationally the number of home sales jumped 9.4%, the median sale price fell 9% to $174,900. In my opinion everyone went gaga over the news. Glad that they did, of course had they li... more...

How To Create A Fairer Tax Environment
Politics | By Steve Selengut @ Monday, 19th October 2009 @ 1:02 PM

Can lawmakers who don't have the courage or intelligence to outlaw texting while driving really be expected to create a saner tax structure? Hmmm. Developing a fairer tax environment is much less an economics problem than it is a political dilemma and, as many of you observed, it is unlikely that anything "tax" will be improved upon until there is some serious facial (and cultural) change in Washington. Politicians focus on one issue at a time, and pretend to have prob... more...

China Brings Freedom Back To 20 Precent US Population
Politics | By Kyle Newton @ Tuesday, 29th September 2009 @ 10:22 AM

Our tale begins in China around 2004. Runyan Corp created the electronic cigarette, and effectively removed the need to smoke tobacco cigarettes. More and more people are smoking, and most just find it too hard to quit smoking. At the same time, smoking bans are in effect in public buildings, leaving smokers to find outdoor smoking areas or other places to run off to when it comes time to feed the habit. Gum and patches saturate the market, but for many smokers, they just do not help. Pe... more...

Electronic Cigarettes Are Still Under Scrutiny
Politics | By Kyle Newton @ Monday, 28th September 2009 @ 10:17 AM

You might be hearing a lot of press on electronic cigarettes. Antismoking groups and some politicians would have this smoking alternative off the market, but smokers who have switched over from traditional cigarettes to electronic cigarettes are very happy with this smoking alternative. The FDA does not have the power to regulate tobacco products, but they can relate smoking cessation devices. This means electronic cigarettes straddle the line. The FDA claims they meet the definition of ... more...

HR 1728 Would Be Extremely Harmful To Real Estate Market
Politics | By Matthew McKernan @ Tuesday, 15th September 2009 @ 3:41 PM

If you are an investor or thinking about becoming an investor then this is something that you really need to read. All investors need to know that the congress has just passed and the senate is working on passing a bill that will restrict real estate seller and buyers, in arranging terms that are agreeable to all of the parties. While many of the provisions of the act are positive steps toward mortgage reform, the inclusion of private owners in the act (see section 101(3)(e) will enormou... more...

The Rise And Decline Of The American Polity. (I) A Truth Unspoken
Politics | By Thomas Belvedere @ Sunday, 30th August 2009 @ 8:07 PM

"The day is not far off when the economic problem will take the back seat where it belongs, and the arena of the heart and the head will be occupied or reoccupied, by our real problems -- the problems of life and of human relations, of creation and behaviour and religion." -- John Maynard Keynes, 1945(1) -- Keynes was far ahead of his time. Maybe, too far. The crash of 2008-2009 proved that "the economic problem" is still in the front seat. It drives us; we... more...

The Rise And Decline Of The American Polity. (II) The Great American Illusion
Politics | By Thomas Belvedere @ Friday, 28th August 2009 @ 3:32 PM

In writing the American constitution, our Founding Fathers could not say openly they were founding a "polity" or oligarchy/democracy hybrid. Why? On the one hand, an open acknowledgement of an oligarchic component would have alienated a large portion of the American people who had just won a war for independence. On the other hand, the Founding Fathers could not declare they were founding a democracy. That admission would have antagonized the oligarchy, members of which w... more...

Donating To Political Campaign Coffers
Politics | By Art Gib @ Sunday, 23rd August 2009 @ 10:03 AM

Contribution to political campaigns is a good way to build up a network of high powered friends that have a say in what takes place on capital hill. If you deep pockets and believe in the cause and convictions of a political candidate, then donating a monetary contribution to the campaign coffers may the right choice for you. Each election cycle millions of dollars are raised by political hopefuls that are running for public office. Political parties as well as the candidates themselves ... more...
