It seems that our teenage students here in the United States are lagging farther and farther behind in the areas of math and science than their peers in over twenty industrialized countries. An alien, reading the stories of our primary school kids would be very puzzled. Did the human parents starve their offspring - all the small human children ever seemed to write about was food? Obviously travelling was a huge excitement for the humans too. Bus trips and car trips featured frequently in the small human's writing. When you pick up a book, you usually do three things: you look at the cover; read the blurb on the back and you read the first paragraph to see if you like it. As an author, you often don't have much control over (1) the book cover or (2) the blurb, BUT every writer knows that a sizzling story start is vital! And that you can control. There are many audio books at the local library that will help people do all sorts of projects. Some of those books are in compact disk form and others will be on audio tapes that will fit into a cassette player.
