Global sourcing of commodities with the help of strategic advancement of competencies and the process of acquiring resources, irrespective of the destination, is a practice that has been the backbone of international trade for a long time. More and more companies have been practicing global sourcing for quite some time now, however, there has been seen a sound intensification in the practice in terms of the number of organizations. These institutional bodies and organizations are concentrating on better global supply base or the multiplicity of the countries that are viewed as potential global sourcing regions. If the current results and state of affairs are anything to go by, this movement is all set to burgeon and proliferate in the times to come.
In the course of the present selection of the low-cost countries for global sourcing, China is one region that has received utmost consideration and attention. Hence, it is critical to recognize, understand and have a study of the characteristics that drive China as the principal resource of supply in the international trade.
The ever-growing assimilation of China with the economy worldwide has resulted in steady growth in international trade. Its exports happen to be more wide-ranging. Moreover, improved penetration has been established in the industrial market by an upsurge in China’s imports from all across the globe—especially Asia, where China sourcing plays the key part in regional specialization. Unrelenting realization of China’s commitments to international trade have further braced its international integration and resulted in generation of benefits for the majority of its partner nations.
As China sourcing and trade with the rest of the world has intensified, its composition and geographical outline has also undergone a noticeable shift in the global sourcing scenario. Its share of overseas trade to industrialized economies has also shown an improvement and become more diversified.
This is a trend which is raising high in the developed countries so as to manage the business which involves maintaining multiple firms around different geographical locations. This helps to meet two main challenges:

To summarize, we can come to a conclusion that the idea of the above two theoretical frameworks and their linked benefits and disadvantages shall be of help to meet the challenges and help in understanding and classification of the varied sourcing mechanisms. It shall also facilitate in having the right choice of the sourcing mechanism for international trade.
