Headache Pain Relief Through Hypnosis By Alan Densky
Even if our brain itself does not have nerves to feel pain, various areas of the skull such as the scalp, face, mouth and throat have pain-sensitive nerve fibers, which can ache. Headache - or cephalgia - usually means any sort of pain that one could feel in one or several of these sensitive areas of the skull.
Headaches can be belong to one of two categories: Primary headaches, such as stress headache, cluster headache and migraine headache, which are not associated with any disease; And Secondary headaches which are due to an illness.
Headaches are the most usual nervous affection. Everyone will suffer from headache at one point in their lifetime, but for 55 million people in America, it is a recurring problem. According to the World Health Organization, one in every 20 adult suffers from recurring headaches, with females being more at risk than men.
Headaches can be greatly disabling and are able to very negatively affect the lives of persons who suffer from them. Work ability is diminished for those persons, which can be detrimental to their economic situation.
The ability to socialize is also lessened as the pain, or the fear thereof, may make people more irascible. Some people who suffer from migraine may even have to consistently pay attention to everything they eat, everything they see, and even everything they smell, as some strong or displeasing sensations may cause pain.
Because headaches are perceived as such an ordinary, harmless condition, the persons who suffer from them on an everyday basis also have to face the incomprehension of their peers. This social barrier can also deter people from getting medical attention and benefiting from the treatment they need. However before it can be treated, a headache has to be "identified".
We have already seen that there were two major kinds of headache: Primary and Secondary, each divided in turn into several other subtypes. Their symptoms can differ as well as their causes and, obviously, how they should be cured. That is why they have to be diagnosed by a physician so that you can receive good treatment.
Stress headache, also known as tension headache, is the most typical kind of primary headache and is the cause for about ninety percent of all headaches. It is usually considered stress-related or related to musculoskeletal problems in the neck.
Tension headache is mainly incidental and can persist from a few minutes to a few hours, but may persist for several days in the most severe cases. It is usually described as a constant pressure, most commonly on both sides of the head, or encircling it, occasionally also affecting the neck.
Migraine is relatively different and is believed to almost certainly have a genetic cause. Migraines happen when the brain releases pain causing inflammatory substances, which spread to the nerves and vessels in the head. Migraine generally occurs on a monthly basis and persists for a few hours, with accompanying symptoms such as nausea and intolerance of normal degrees of light and noise.
Cluster headaches usually happen frequently and do not last long. They are also extremely painful. They occur in clusters of six to twelve weeks every one or two years, generally at the same period of the year. The pain is extraordinarily raw and affects the whole head, usually beginning with the eye, and then spreading to the forehead, nose and mouth. It is much less common than some other types of headache and mostly affects men.
Headaches are typically treated using over-the-counter painkillers such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol. A physician could also prescribe avoiding some typical triggers like noise or certain foods.
Caffeine, Magnesium and Vitamin B2 have also proven useful in order to treat migraine. Drugs however are expensive and sometimes have negative side effects, particularly for people who must use them on a daily basis. That is why you may want to think about other ways of avoiding the different types of headache.
NLP and Hypnosis have indeed shown to be effective and will help you to release pain anywhere in your body, including the head, as well as trying to be more relaxed at the same time. Stress is a very common cause of headache, and specific hypnotic methods have been developed to release both stress and headaches in a few seconds.
People who suffer from migraine or cluster headache can often feel the first symptoms before it actually happens, and could learn self-hypnosis techniques to abort them before they become too painful. Hypnotists who understand how disabling a headache can be have created these methods.
Hypnotherapy is a drug free method of treatment and will help you find the help you are looking for. Headache is a serious condition with numerous variations, affecting millions of people throughout the world. Learn to overcome it and to relax with the soothing method of self hypnosis.
