Taking Care Of Your Face

Taking Care Of Your Face

The skin is the largest tissue in the body but sad to say it is often overlooked. As a natural protective body covering and a site for the sense of touch, the skin has a number of essential needs that you need to take care of.

You must keep it clean all the time and ensure to defend it from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Most of all, you need to bear in mind that facial skin must be given more attention than any other area since the skin on the face has more glands that secrete oil making it susceptible to pimples, acne and other skin related problems.

For a healthy and younger looking skin, here are some of the basic tips to follow for a typical daily beauty regimen to take care of your facial skin.

In the morning, start off by cleaning your face using moderately warm water with a lather-forming cleanser or a gel wash that purifies the skin. As much as possible avoid using bar soaps that tend to remove the skin's innate ability to moisturize. In drying the face after washing, don't rub it but instead pat your face in a gentle manner using a towel. Second, facial toning should be done. The toner takes away any make-up or other residues left on your face.

A good toner should have a pH level that is not higher than your skin's and should result to clear skin that allows hydration. Using a moisturizer is of utmost importance as well and is applicable to all skin types. Just because you have very oily skin doesn't mean that you don't need any moisturizing at all. The moisturizer keeps your skin soft, smooth and supple. Top it with sunscreen for UV rays protection. Lastly, if you apply makeup, make sure to always use a foundation that fits your skin tone to appear very natural.

For your evening ritual, your morning regimen typically applies as well. You must clean your face using lukewarm water with a cleanser or a gel wash. You must remember to never go to sleep with make-up on or else your pores will be clogged and skin blemishes may appear. It is important for your skin to breathe and rejuvenate especially during nighttime. Also, use a toner. An additional step would be exfoliation. While your face is wet, exfoliate to help get rid of dead skin cells that can cause skin dullness, acne and the ineffectiveness of beauty products applied to your skin.

As you exfoliate, massage your face in a gentle manner and rinse. Do this once or twice a week or as directed depending on the exfoliant that you are using. Put on moisturizer and if possible, an eye cream that firms the area near the eyes.
