Laptop and Desktop Computers - Which One is Right For You By travis klein
Laptop and desktop computers, what to opt? Many people still get confused when they have to decide either of the two devices. However, one can easily make better choice by considering the basic differences between two and his/her own requirement.
In order to decide the right device for yourself you need to consider some important points. A desktop computer is one that you have at home consisting of a box for data storage, a large monitor, keyboard, a mouse and so on. On the contrary, a laptop is a very small machine wherein all these separate components are stored in a single case itself.
You cannot shift the desktop computer from here and there as it is usually restricted to one room, whereas a laptop can be carried anywhere you want. But unfortunately the biggest disadvantage of a laptop is its high price compared to desktop computers. Not only the purchasing price but upgrading the machine and keep it in working order is also a costly deal.
Here are the reasons mentioning why it is costly to upgrade or repair a laptop than a desktop computer:
1. Components used in laptops are often model-specific just like buying a rare car and then searching for the replacement parts. 2. Costs involved in making these components so small are often higher than making the components of a desktop machine. 3. In case the graphics card of the laptops gets failed, the whole board would need replacement. 4. There are more chances of a laptop to get damaged or stolen as it can be carried easily.
Another major disadvantage that you should know is the actual user interface of the laptop over a conventional desktop computer. For example, screens of the laptops are very small and of lower resolution as compared to the desktop computers. Laptops have slowly become as fast as desktop computers. Their price range for the same speed however is what will increase. A laptop with the same specs as a desktop computer, will be roughly 50% more in value. That offset with the size are things that a user would have to decide on.
Desktop computers are big and bulky whereas laptops are light and handy. It can be easily operated by anyone. Now no more pending assignments or no more excuses and it's all because of laptop computers. Carry your work wherever you go. But you should also know that laptops do not have enough power as desktop computers have.
Hence we can say that both the devices have their own individual advantages and disadvantages, so it's completely up to you to decide which one is better.
