Outdoor Kids Toys By Jim Brown
Outdoor toys are great for keeping the kids amused when the weather is nice, their own little play park in the back garden, swings, slides, sand pit, trampolines and paddling pools.
But as often as not it rains, they can't go outside, they're fed up with Lego and building blocks and they end up thrown all over the floor. A great idea for those sort of days is a plastic tablecloth, it comes with four wax crayons, that are non-toxic, it provides hours of enjoyment, and when they've finished you just wipe it with a damp cloth and they can start again, and for less than $5 it's a great way to stop boredom on wet days. Suitable for ages 2 and up, the kids can let their imagination run wild.
Nowadays with Playstations, X Boxes, WII, and Gameboys taking over, it's sometimes difficult to get kids away from the T.V. Let alone exercise. Then how about the Starkick Trainer. It comes with a free size 4 or size 5 football, it can be used indoors or out. It simply fastens round the waist with a velcro belt, the ball is held in place by a plastic glove, and retails around $10. A great way to practice their skills, without losing the ball and also good exercise. Suitable for boys and girls of all ages.
Board games are another good way to relieve boredom, and can also involve the whole family. The old favourites are Monopoly and Scrabble, which have been around for ages. There are even board games now to keep the toddlers amused and learning while they play. There's a sunflower game where they have to try and make the bumble bees stick without falling off, Lucky Ducks where you have to match 4 ducks of whatever colour you are, this one is great for giggles.
For the younger ones there are giant floor jigsaw puzzles, there's a 26-piece alphabet one, great for pre school kids. Jigsaw puzzles have been a great family tradition for generations.
Card games are also great family enjoyment, for the younger ones, in fact for less than $6 you can a box of 20 card games for kids, these start from age 2 upwards, there's a book of instructions, a pack of alphabet cards, a pack of playing cards and a Happy Families pack. The games include Go Fish, Snap, Old Maid and Crazy Eights.
