Find a Babysitter - Selecting the Perfect Babysitter By Mike Batta
Being a parent brings in loads of responsibilities. To find a babysitter responsible enough to leave your precious one to, is one such necessity for every parent who wishes to maintain a balance between a job and the home or even just enjoy a night out with friends. As many unfortunate parents might have realized, if you find a babysitter who is a wrong sitter for your baby could lead to unnecessary problems. Someone who is experienced and mature apart from being a good human being is necessary to find a babysitter.
While you find a babysitter the safety of your child should be upper most in your mind. Be sure to check for any kind of criminal history of the sitter and also look out for abnormal behavioral symptoms whilst you find a babysitter. Gather information from previous employers, or people who know the sitter about the behavior, personality, etc of the prospective candidate before you find a babysitter.
The most experienced candidate may not be the best sitter for your child. While deciding, be practical keeping in mind the child's age. Find a babysitter, who is responsible yet fun loving is more important. Be sure though that the sitter is capable of handling an emergency situation if necessary.
Before you find a babysitter conduct an interview of sorts where you can gauge in an informal way about the person and whether he/she would be able to handle your children. It is very important that the sitter has a positive influence on your child and does not ignore the needs of the child while you are away. If your child is old enough to understand, make sure you talk to them about the sitter and ask them for their preferences before you decide on the final person. Children at times have gut feelings or a sense of instant likes and dislikes. A person whom they cannot relate to or find difficult to be happy with, would be a bad choice for them.
The work experience of the sitter should be more suited to your child. For example, if your child is an infant, the candidate should know how to handle one as well as the kind of procedures needed for feeding, bathing and sleeping, etc of a child of this age.
There are sitters who may have completed professional training courses; or those who have experience with their own siblings, but handling children of different age group than those one is used to, needs different maturity and experience altogether.
