What the caveman won't tell you.
There are numerous products on the market that claim to clean your lens using a process of buffing, sanding, grinding and multiple
steps. Some times hours worth of work.
Guess what!
The same oxidation you take off today will return in time. You will need to clean your lens again. Do you want to have to do that
every year? Think of the time you will waste repeating the job and in most cases now you have to buy another cleaning kit. Headlight
cleaning does not last for ever. Oxidation will build back up again over time. There is no one time fix. The sealers used by these kits
do more harm than good. Initially they give the headlight a nice gloss but that gloss does not last and it will turn yellow and peels off
your lens. Now your lens can't be cleaned by any other method than the buffing and grinding method you used before.
You have given your self a life sentence of annually spending hours restoring your headlights, making the lens thinner and thinner with
each application. Eventually you will have to replace your lens and look how much money and time you will have spent.

Todays Automotive lens are made of high impact Acrylic. This allows for a variety of shapes and sizes, making the headlight configuration
of today, one of the most diverse in design history. They are all but perfect in their construction. The Acrylic material of which the
headlight are comprised are versatile and beautiful but it has a limited life expectancy. Unlike Glass which would last virtually forever,
climate creates rapid changes in the appearance of exposed Acrylics. Headlights rapidly oxidize ( cloud up ) when exposed to salt air and
excessive sunlight.
The standard method is to buff or sand the lens until the oxidation is removed. This caveman approach caused damage to the lens surface
that consists of fine scratches that begin to reveal themselves to you the first time you wash your car.
Another method which is a new concept is to clean with a wipe on product, dry and seal the lens with a polyurethane finish.
It looks good if done properly when its fresh however within months the exposure of the polyurethane to the sun will turn it yellow and
only paint stripper or sanding can remove the sealer. Many products claim that their product will make your cars headlights look like brand
new out of the box. They use tricks with photography to make their products results look better than it really is.
