Contact Lenses

Contact Lenses

Does the thought of wearing contactlenses come to your mind? Nowadays with all the options available, you can easily get a pair for yourself. For some people wearing contact lenses is all about enhancing the modus vivendi while others choose glasses over the trouble of looking after lenses. Whichever category you belong to, what you need to do first is to get your eye examined by an eye-care professional preferably a doctor who can guide you correctly.
Contacts these days can be divided into two categories: GP or "oxygen permeable" hard lenses and soft lenses that are made from watery plastics. Contact lenses can also be classed according to the frequency of wearing them; those which we need to remove, clean and lay aside properly while the others which can be worn for longer time periods and can even be worn while sleeping. Then there are some contacts which are to be used for a period of one month during which they can be worn continuously.

Different types of lenses are available in the market today for different problems concerned to the vision. There are in fact thousands of combinations as far as the size, shape and power of lenses are concerned. For those who suffer from myopia or presbyopia: they can correct their vision by using Spherical contact lenses. And there is a plus or minus in the prescription given by the doctor which determines the exact correction that needs to be had on the contact lenses. Those who need to wear spectacles (because they suffer from a reduced ability to focus on near objects caused by loss of elasticity of the crystalline lens) are recommended the Bifocal contact lenses which work better than the commonly used eyeglasses. For astigmatism, there are the Toric contact lenses which help the light rays focus from a single point to a unique focal point thereby facilitating clear vision.

There are three basic things that we expect from contacts. First of which is good clear vision. Next is that it should fit comfortably on your cornea and the last it should be according to your requirements. There are various brands of lenses that are found in the market today like Bausch and Lomb, CIBA Vision, Johnson and Johnson, CooperVision, etc.

But one needs not forget to consider factors like dry eyes, the wish to change eye colour or the need for overnight use while choosing the right lenses. And that can be done if you seek the right guidance from a certified professional.
