Your Pet Deserves a Chaise Lounge

Your Pet Deserves a Chaise Lounge

Admit it: your pet is spoiled. The best toys, fanciest food, professional groomers and more; why, they might as well be part of the family. In ancient Egypt, the cats were worshipped like gods and today we lavish just as must attention on them. For the pampered pooch and the catered to kitty, there is no better way to show your affection than with a chaise lounge for pets. Long revered as a luxurious piece of furniture by us humans, it was only a matter of time before Fido got in on the action.

Maybe you are on the fence on this one. You can appreciate a little treat here and there, but their own chaise lounge? It sounds a little excessive. There are actually some very good reasons for owning one. For starters, your furry friend needs a bed of sorts, and a pet chaise lounge provides a comfortable repose. On top of that, the shape of the chaise lounge in particular emulates your own couch, so there is less chance of your pet jumping onto that forbidden furniture when he has his own miniature version.

Pet beds are typically reserved for indoor use, although some companies do make more waterproof versions for outdoor doghouses. For our purposes though, just assume that these chaise lounge models are strictly for the indoors.

The inside of these comfy contraptions is usually filled with a clump-resistant synthetic fiber, like polyfil, which is made from recycled soda bottles. This material in the oversized cushion will stay fluffy and support your pet. A plush chaise lounge is especially beneficial to old and handicapped animals, whose limbs may be brittle or sore. Some brands even offer the coveted Memory Foam, which is equally appreciated by man for its healing properties and support.

The cover of these beds are almost as varied as the choices for a regular chaise lounge. Because they revel in the cozy, often times these are made with a poly-velour blend, cotton, fleece, faux suede or faux leather. In general, the covers easily slip on and off and secure with a zipper or velcro. This is because the majority of these cushion covers are machine washable, because like it or not, pets can be messy. And you do not want to go spending hundreds of dollars on something which will get stained within the first month.

As an added bonus, some chaise lounge beds come with the option of personalizing, so you can have your pets name embroidered on it. Also, some models come with whimsical patterns or matching plush toys. In addition, some beds have pockets for storing accessories and more.

The bottoms of the chaise lounge pet bed are often slip proof and water-resistant, an especially useful feature for those extra animated pets. If the bed does not come with a non-slip surface, you can choose to place the bed on a carpeted area, or if on hardwood, rug grip tape or pads can help it to stay in place.

Chances are, you do not own a chaise lounge yourself. These beautiful though slightly less functional seats represent a tradition in furniture making steeped in luxury but abandoned to anachronism. Perhaps, though, the purchase of a chaise lounge bed for mans best friend will inspire you to pick up one of your own and revive a lost artifact.
