Although this city is visited by millions of tourists every year, there is still so much of the city that has not been discovered by the masses. So, before Copenhagen becomes another London or Paris, flooded with camera-happy tourists, you should book your tickets.
Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark and is considered to be one of the most incredible first world cities. The city is situated on the coast so although the weather and ocean are generally too cold for bathing and beach time, the views are nevertheless quite breathtaking. A walk along the promenade is the perfect way to get in touch with what Copenhagen is about.
The harbor area is also a spectacular site. In summer, when the weather is a bit milder, a view of the smaller ships coming into the harbor is one of the most romantic things you will ever do in your life. If you are travelling with a loved one then you should look at finding accommodation in the near vicinity of the harbor. A hotel will be better suited for this as you can stay on one of the higher floors and take advantage of the incredible view.
The harbor is also home to some of the best clubs and pubs in Europe. At night, the harbor area changes from a place of peace and tranquility into a place that will simply rock your socks off. You can start off with a romantic dinner overlooking the water and then move on to one of the many pubs for a pre-party drink before dancing the night away till the early hours of the morning.
One thing you should not forget to do is take a picture alongside the famous Little Mermaid statue. This statue is visited by over a million tourists each year. If you are spending a lot of time at the harbor then you have no excuse not to visit the statue.
There is a lot more to Copenhagen than just the harbor area. The city itself is an architectural wonderment with a rare balance between ancient and ultra-modern. By allowing yourself a few extra days in the city, you will be able to really appreciate the culture and the heritage for yourself. There are enough museums and cultural exhibitions to keep even the most discerning tourist happy.
Accommodation in Copenhagen is not the cheapest in the world, but if you start looking online earlier rather than later, you should find something within your budget. If you want a romantic holiday then you should start saving. The more you spoil your loved one, the happier the holiday will turn out.
