How Natural Treatment Method Can Complement Conventional

Though the advancements in medical science have brought us breakthroughs that have solved many problems in medicine including that if treating various illnesses, there are still those who continue and advocate the practice of alternative medicine and natural healing. It involves primarily methods of healing similar to those early days as compared to treatments done in conventional medicines such as administering synthetic drugs and performing surgical operations.

Common natural treatment methods would include the use of botanical extracts from herbal plants, naturopathy healing methods such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, nutrition, physical natural treatments, meditation, massage, relaxation and a lot more as long as they deviate almost totally from the practice of conventional medicine.

Among the most commonly practiced natural treatment methods are the following: homeopathy, herbal remedies, aromatherapy, acupuncture, diet and nutrition and spiritual wellness methods.

Homeopathy also known as homeopathic medicine is a natural treatment method anchored on the philosophy that we can stimulate the bodys intrinsic ability to heal itself by administering very small doses of highly dilutes substances that in bigger doses will produce illness or symptoms. This is called like cures like healing method. Developed in the 1700s in Germany, this natural treatment method has been practiced in the US since the early 19th century.

Herbal remedies are of course the most commonly used natural treatment methods. Since time immemorial, botanical extracts have been used by ancient civilizations to treat various diseases and even modern medicine has recognized it and a lot of medical practitioners now incorporate with conventional medicines the use of drugs that were manufactured using extracts from herbal plant sources. Aromatherapy is another alternative treatment method that utilizes the scent of liquid plant materials known as essential oils and other aromatic elements from plants used for the purpose of affecting ones moods and health through the healing aroma or scent.

Chinese and Oriental medical practice uses primarily the natural healing method of acupuncture. This is a natural healing method whose technique uses the inserting of fine needles to some specific points in the body referred to as qi or chi, which according to ancient Chinese medicine, is where the vital energy of the body flows. Nutrition is also used as natural method of treatment through which diet and the proper food intake play a vital role in maintaining our bodys physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Examples would be foods that are sometimes touted as brain foods such as those that are protein-rich. There are also those that are mood-altering foods and are thus recommended to fight the disabling effects of diseases. The adage An apple a day keeps the doctor away best describes the role of proper nutrition in natural healing.

Other famous natural treatment methods that stem from ancient and traditional spiritual practices where the mind is used and is made to go through a relaxed state sometimes coupled with massage and aromatherapy believed to soothe and take away stress are meditation, hypnosis, and self-awareness practices.

Because most of these natural treatment methods are far from totally declared effective through scientifically proven efficacy, most medical practitioners would recommend that they be used alongside conventional medical methods as assisted by medical professionals. Medical science either has not discovered all treatments and solutions to diseases and even before its advent, ancient medicine has already relied from the most available solutions that nature can offer and how the body can naturally heal and maintain itself.
