Types of Drug Rehab Treatment

Types of Drug Rehab Treatment

There are many different types of drug rehab centers that are designed to treat those who have become addicted to drugs to the point that they have lost control of their lives. The most common treatment types include residential treatment, out-patient, and local support groups. If you feel you might have a problem with drugs, or someone you know does, one of these methods of treatment can help.

Virtually any substance that can be taken in by the body that causes an uncontrollable addiction can, and often does, result in harm to one's self as well as those who associate with them. Drug rehab is a type of service offered to people who form these types of addictions to a foreign substance.

Some of the types of things people form addictions to include, but are not limited to, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, heroine, methamphetamines, and more. These types of rehabilitation services are designed to help break the addiction and help people get back to a normal life.

An in-patient drug rehab facility is often inside of a hospital or a hospital type facility. This type of place is designed for patients to stay the night at the facility for up to several weeks or even months.

An outpatient drug rehab is designed for patients who have already spent time inside of an in-patient facility or who desire to transition themselves into this type of treatment. This treatment is for patients who would rather live at home and come into the facility for treatment on a regular basis. This requires a lot of commitment on the patient's end and they must be at the point where they honestly do not want to get back on the drugs.

Local support groups are designed for people who have completed their drug rehab services. Some of these people may not have ever been in an in-patient or out-patient facility but have still recognized a problem. It is also common for a judge to order people to attend these types of groups. This is usually a meeting where past drug addicts get together to talk about their cravings for the drugs and things they can do to stay off of the drugs. These meetings might take place weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly.

Drug rehab is designed to assist people on their road back to a normal daily life and break their addictions to a foreign and mind altering substance. But personal preferences, needs and budget constraints may determine whether you choose in-patient, out-patient, or local support groups to facilitate recuperation.
