Drying a Rose Bouquet is Lots of Fun By Matt Murren
I love roses! I think they brighten a room, make it feel cozy, warm and friendly and because of that I wanted to learn about drying a rose bouquet. I thought it would be interesting and make wonderful gifts for my friends and family. But unfortunately I didn’t know much about drying rose bouquets, so I went on my research quest and here is what I found out. What I found was one of the most interesting hobbies I have ever had. Drying roses is not all that difficult, but you do want to be careful and not damage the roses you are trying to keep. There are actually two techniques that are used in drying roses. One is called the sand technique and the other is the air drying method. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. Because I didn’t have all the equipment for the sand drying technique, I opted for the air drying technique and this is what I learned:First you need to cut the stem as close to the flower as possible, then take a piece of florist wire and insert it in the bloom then wrap the other end around the stem and then around a coat hanger. Remember the flower is to be hung upside down. Leave space between each rose you hang upside down. They shouldn’t touch each other so the blooms won’t fall. Then after you finish hanging two or three roses take the hanger into a dark room and leave it hanging from some place with the roses upside down for about three weeks. Here is Another Way of Drying a Whole Bouquet of RosesCut each stem to be the same length and remove most of the bottom leaves then wrap a rubber band around several of the stems and hang the whole bouquet upside down. Then place the hanger in a dark room for three weeks. After this time you will have some love bouquets of dried roses. You can add scents to the roses by buying special potpourri scent and adding it as the flowers dry. It just takes a few drops. As you can see drying a rose bouquet is really easy.
