Get away this half term - Advice for holiday malers By Spot Biddle
Sometimes water is safe to drink and sometimes it is not when you go aboard. You should check before you go as sometimes locals will be confused if they drink. Sometimes they do say that it is safe to drink although consuming around 2 litres pay day may land you with an upset stomach due to the high mineral content in it so buying bottled water should do you fine.
When you are looking for accommodation for your self-packaged holiday you should check how many the accommodation sleeps. This will be both a maximum number and a comfortable number. It is no good trying to squeeze extra people in if they are going to be uncomfortable on their holidays; this will only ruin it for them.
It is safer to carry travellers cheques than cash or you can try credit cards but dont use these to draw out money, similarly check with your own bank before you depart to see how much they will charge for getting money out abroad. If you are carrying travellers cheques make sure you leave a copy of the serial numbers with a trusted family member or friend with the telephone number for the country you are staying in that you would need to call in the event of losing them or them being stolen.
Ask if your transfers included or are they extra if you are arranging a self packaged holiday? If you are renting a villa privately make sure you check about air conditioning, sheets and linen, pool heating, ski lift passes. Find out all your extras before you go by asking this will save on packing the just in case items or if you think you can take something from home instead of paying for it.
Reduce the travel fare by 20% and consider bidding for tickets in a travel auction like ebay or priceline. Read the rules before you start bidding and make sure you understand them. You can also bid for train and coach travel.
You should also protect yourself from mosquitoes in the evening time. Sometimes you cant see them and often just feel an itch after it has bitten from you. You can protect yourself from mosquitos with a range of lotions and potions available on the high street you should also check with your local chemist. If you are affected while on holiday you should take a trip to the chemist where they should be able to give you something to stop the swelling or itching.
