It's About More Than Just The Falklands Conflict

It's About More Than Just The Falklands Conflict

When I was asked to write an article on Argentina tours I thought to myself, 'Who goes to Argentina and why?' To my mind, Argentina was a cold, barren place that I had only ever heard mentioned on the news years ago during the coverage of the Falklands war. So, I decided to take a proper look at what this country has to offer and why anybody in their right mind would want to take part in an Argentina tour. This is what I found.

To take an Argentina tour you would need to be the type of person that would appreciate nature and all the wonders that it has to offer. Natural wonders such as breathtaking sunsets, vast snow capped mountain ranges, powerful rushing waters and age old glaciers that just leave the visitor with the most awe inspiring experience of their lives.

The inhabitants of Argentina are all for supporting and protecting the exact things that have made this country such a beautiful place to live and visit. National parks have been established all over the country for the protection of flora and fauna but this does not deter them from welcoming visitors. Indeed, it is a quiet, but affluent tourist trade that helps fund the protection of all that this country holds dear and respectful visitors are welcomed.

Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world. It holds within its borders a landscape that is truly diverse thanks to its situation in the southern hemisphere. Before planning a visit, remember that the seasons are reversed. Mild weather is to be enjoyed during their autumn which runs from March to May and Spring, from September to November. The hottest months are to be enjoyed through the Argentine summer of December to February but even then there is a vast difference between the temperatures of the North and South.

Buenos Aires is one of the world's largest cities and it offers all you would expect from such a label. The urban life is one of busy, chaotic fun and an exuberant nightlife. The vitality of this city simply shines through in abundance and you will never be short of a club or festival of celebration of some kind to get your teeth into. It also boasts some traditional architecture that shows off the old world culture of the country.

Buenos Aires is also the best place to be based for those wanting their Argentina tour to encompass the Iguazu Falls. The Iguazu River is naturally stepped and allows it to boast a total of 275 falls that reach up to seventy meters at some points. The power behind water is something that man has long tried to harness, in most cases quite successfully. To see the forces of nature in all its untamed glory, a visit to Iguazu Falls is a must.

The Falls are surrounded by the Iguazu National Park - a veritable jungle of protected species of flora and wildlife that is a rarity in the rest of the world and something the Argentines are so rightly proud of.

For those wanting to see some age old wonder that will truly make you realise your place on the planet, take a look at Argentinas glaciers. The Parque Nacional Los Glaciares is there purely for the protection of the natural glaciers. The country's most famous glacier is Perito Moreno Glacier - an ice river that is three kilometres wide and reaches 30 metres high at its front wall.

To reach this grand sight the best place to stay is a little village called El Calafate. With only 3,000 inhabitants, this is, in comparison with some of the other cities in this country, relatively small. The village is located on the shores of Lake Argentino and offers a multitude of accommodation types for visitors to enjoy and is only 80km from the Glacier Park.

So it would seem, there is no reason not to visit Argentina, whether you're a warm bod or cold, whether you like vibrant nightlife or natural wonders, whether you like peaceful cruises along waterways or simply to see the most beautiful mountain ranges or crystal clear sunsets that the countries position on the globe affords, there is something on an Argentina tour simply made for you.
