New Green Museum Allows Roof To Leak Water Like A River

There is a new museum called the California Academy of Science that has just opened in The Golden Gate Park area in San Francisco. It has a rainforest display and an aquarium. While it is not the largest museum in the world, it is said to be calling itself the largest green museum in the world. It features many green innovations that make it more self sufficient and a lot better for the environment at the same time.

One of the most unique features of this new museum is the rooftop. It has a lot going for it besides just a metal top or some shingles. It has solar panels that supplies at least ten percent of the energy that is required to power the museum. This might not seem like a lot, but as we all know, every little bit of energy that can be gotten for free is a big help. Solar panels are becoming more popular all the time and every time they are used some where, it means producing less energy from another source.

The roof top is also a great saver of water. The roof is planted with grasses and other things. When it rains, these plants are watered, but the rainwater is also captured and filtered to the rain forest display inside the museum. We know that this kind of water recycling saves from using up other water supplies, it just makes good common sense and this is what this museum is trying to say. Even it does not seem like much at the time, we should do everything we can go be as green as possible.

Finally, someone has found an even further use for old blue jeans. We all wear our jeans usually until they begin to fall apart and now when they do, insulate something with them. The museum has used shredded blue jean material for insulation at the museum. Someone discovered that it works really well. With all the discarded jeans in the world, we should be able to insulate a lot of buildings.

If you have the opportunity you should visit this museum if for no other reason than just to see the green side of things. The more people begin to use green innovations, the sooner we will really be able to see the difference we can make for our planet and the sooner we can start to turn around all of the destructive things that we have been doing to it for too many years
