Karaoke – Steps To Take To Escape Being The Laughing Stock Performance Of The Evening

Its the day of the work social and a Karaoke bar has been chosen as the activity and you on the sly fancy your the next Amy Winehouse, but your quite edgy of the pressure of singing in front of many work colleagues, this is a perfectly natural response. Be aware that there is a possibility of having a total disaster with the new 21 year old from accounts stealing your signature song and her heaving bosom stealing the whole evening as that whiskey and cigar chaser you just finished off, helped you resemble Louie Armstrong than beloved Mariah!

Choosing around 3-5 songs that you could potentially sing, means that if someone sings your ballad you at least have a song as a reserve that you are comfortable in singing and will prevent an embarrassing situation for you. Sing the tunes to your friend a couple of days before the karaoke evening and take on board their advice and ask for useful criticism.

Although let someone pick a tune too it maybe their way of helping you avoid embarrassment with over doing your vocal talents, try to shun songs that push your voice beyond its natural range especially with some of the more tricky anthems. Your performance will be even better if you pick a tune that you really like, this is a good tip so try to do this.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, a top quality singing performance needs your oesophagus to be hydrated and vocal chords relaxed and if you smoke try to stay away from them on the few hours before the song, it can distort your singing voice and deep breathing techniques will probably calm you better. Have a little warm up by belting out a few tunes is also a good pointer but obviously avoid notes out of your personal range and no straining or it will impair your performance.

The other suggestion to avoid cracking up on the stage is not to yell. If you are in a loud place with your friends around and that guy from payroll you like, then ignore all discussion that will make you yell and just get into performing mode. Spending 90 minutes before you get on to Karaoke podium, chain smoking and swilling down strong Vodka and shouting at your mate about how evil that girl from accounts looks by the point at which you get on stage your all ready pre disposed to give a poor act.
