The Truth about Sex Lubricants By Phoenix Delray
Sex lubricants have become common household goodies in the past couple of decades. While the topic of sex lubricants had in the past been kept taboo, recently, people are opening up to the outward ideas of sex and using lubricants to make good sex great. Sex lubricants range in price, and there also is a lot of different ingredients in them and types of lube, and not all sex lubricants are good for all sexual activities. There are some basic things that everyone should keep in mind when it comes to sex lubricants, and if you remember these things while you are shopping, they will save you a lot of money (and stress or frustration) in the end.
First of all, when you pick up the first bottle of the sex lubricants, if you are unfamiliar with that kind, turn the bottle over and look first at the list of ingredients. You should know each ingredient in sex lubes and how they react with your body or not. Some people are allergic to or are sensitive to some ingredients in sex lubes, so usually for these people, natural, organic sex lubricants are a good choice.
There are a lot of water based sex lubricants that contain sugar and glycerin. These ingredients can promote the growth of yeast in the vagina or the rectum, which can lead to yeast infections. Most of the water based sex lubricants that contain glycerin are the flavored ones, so be very careful of those. Try to find lubes that are sugar free, paraben free, and glycerin free.
There are sex lubricants out on the market today that are oil based sex lubricants. The only thing you need to remember about oil based sex lubes are that unless you are a male looking for lube to masturbate with, move on! You need to avoid the oil based lubricants because they will break down toys, condoms, and birth control devices almost on contact. Also, the oil coats the vagina and the rectum, which can commonly lead to infections. Anything from latex gloves to rubber and latex condoms are not to be used with oil based sex lubricants. This includes petroleum jelly and baby oil, or mineral oil.
Silicone sex lubricants are quickly becoming the most popular lubes with people today. Silicone lubricants last longer than water ones before drying out, and a lot of people really like the texture and silky smoothness of silicone. It is interesting, by the way, that silicone feels so smooth; silicone by definition is billions of tiny glass beads that are smeared together. Do not use silicone sex lubricants with any of your toys if the toys are made of silicone. Since silicone is glass, when you rub glass on glass, it gets destroyed. The same thing happens with the toys. Some people dont like the fact that silicone sex lubricants are harder to wash off of the body after use, but all it takes is a little effort, soap, and water, and it will come off.
So keep a keen eye out for the ingredients listed on the bottles of sex lubricants, because with the right kind of sex lubricants not only could you save yourself time and trouble, but a whole lot of grief as well.
