About The First Amendment

I'm pretty sure that everyone has learned about The Bill of Rights from grade school from your teachers. However it is easily forgotten by the general public. Sad isn't it? But it’s the honest truth. Americans are ridiculed nearly every day by nations all over the world for being big, dumb and slow. To begin this let's start with the first few amendments and what better to start off with amendment number 1.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
A bit vague isn’t it? Well, let's look into it a bit. The first part we should concentrate on is the "Congress shall make no law". Why is this part so important you ask? Because it states that the US government cannot go about and impose laws on its citizens with the respected views in question.
The first part of the very first amendment states that the US government cannot be directly involved with religion. Of course there are always loopholes and exceptions but that is a topic for another time. But the general meaning of this amendment is that the people of the United States of America can freely believe in whatever religion they wish to follow. Be it whether Christianity, Islam, Buddhism or even religions that may be incredibly shady which I shouldn't mention but I'm pretty sure you know what I'm getting at.
Now let's focus on the second part of the amendment. It affects the ability of the citizens of the US to be able to make any statement. Of course there are also restrictions to this amendment such as you can't go around and spread around lies as they are facts because that is slander and libel. Also you can't go about and yell "Fire" in a crowded area when there is no fire because it can cause a panic and people may be injured with the mass hysteria that was created. But the main reason for this law was for people to search for the truth and let it be known to the rest of the people of the country; especially when it comes to scandals.
The third statement allows for people to assemble of course there are other procedures that people may have to go through with such as getting permits from the city and such but that's for another time. This basically allows for people with like-minds to gather and exercise actions that aren't illegal or prohibited by law such as gathering for a speech or a concert or of other events where masses of people gather.
The final part allows for the citizens to petition the government to seek to right the injustice that may be practiced without the fear of being prosecuted by the government. This means when anyone sees an act of injustice they have the right to bring this issue up to the government and demand for this wrong to be righted, because a government without the support of its people is nothing but a dictatorship.
