How To Know When You Should Fire Someone

If you are or have ever been the boss on a job, then you know that the position is sometimes not all that is it thought to be. Being the boss means that you are the one who is the one responsible for all of the other people that work under you and it is your responsibility to see that they are doing their jobs well along with your own. It is a very stressful position to be in when there is so much responsibility riding on your shoulders.

Employees often get frustrated with their bosses because they are not the ones everyone depends on. When there is a problem on the job, employees go to the boss. When an employee wants more money, they go to the boss. When an employee can not come in to work, they tell the boss. Any time anything goes wrong every one looks to the boss.

People seem to forget all about these job requirements that a boss has to undertake. What most people fear the most from bosses is being fired. While there are some bosses out there who really do not have any regard for others circumstances when it comes to firing an employee, there are many more bosses out there who find firing an employee very distasteful indeed.

When a boss is faced with firing an employee, they often take into consideration the reason why they have to. When an employee is continually late or does not show up for work at all, it means sometimes that other employees are treated unfairly because the extra work load must be shifted to them. Should he be more lenient and put up with an employee that can not be depended on or replace him or her with someone more reliable?

There are also employees that shirk the responsibilities that their job entails. This can also cause problems. This might mean that things are not accomplished as well or a quickly as they should be and guess who is the one who has to deal with it when this happens? The boss has to deal with it. When he is constantly reprimanding a particular employee about his job performance, it becomes harder for a boss to applaud the good job that others are doing because his time is being spent stressed out over what is not getting done correctly. This also is unfair to other employees.

Sometimes a boss just has to be the boss and take the bull by the horns so to speak and do what has to be done whether it is what he wants to do or not. Putting someone out of a job is not an easy thing to do. Ultimately it is up to the employee to prove that they are worth keeping and not the bosses place to feel guilty if that employee has a job performance that is so poor they have to be let go.
