If you are a home owner then you might be looking are doing some remodeling, and most people want to start in the bathrooms, and furthermore want to replace the old tub with a brand new tub that will add a whole new look and feel to the bathroom. The good news is that it is not as hard or as expensive as you might think, and can easily be added to your remodeling budget.
Before you ever step foot in the hardware store you need to know how much money you can afford to spend on a new tub. If you are planning on a full bathroom remodel then you cannot overspend on your tub because this will cut into your budget for the rest of the remodel, and lets face a brand new tub with no toilet is not a pretty picture. This is why budgeting out every dollar you are going to spend on your remodel is key to picking out the perfect bathtub for your budget. Once you have a figure then lock it, and do not spend over that amount no matter what.
You will also need to figure in the cost of paying a plumber to come and install the tub for you unless you have experience and can do it yourself. I would call two or three plumbing companies and get quotes to remove the old tub and install the new one. Once I have the quotes I can rest assured that I will stay on budget and still get the tub I want. Make sure when you ask your plumbing company for the quote that you include taking out the old tub, and installing the new tub or that could try to charge you extra for removal.
The most important thing about buying a tub is that your measure and make sure that the tub is going to fit. In most cases you can just buy a tub that is the same size, then pull the old one out, and slap the new one in. If you are doing a whole new floor plan then get with your plumber and make sure that the tub is going to fit in the allotted space.
The cheapest and easiest way to go is to purchase a standard tub that you can find at just about any hardware store. If you are looking for something relaxing and are not concerned with the amount of money you are going to spend then you may want to buy a spa tub. These tubs require more work and planning but anyone who has one will tell you that they are worth every penny. Freestanding bathtubs are making a comeback and are very affordable and classy.
Now, that you know your options you will need to decided on which type of tub you are going to purchase, then check with your plumber and make sure that there is not going to be any price differences with the tub you have chosen. Then, its time to go shopping to buy your bathtub for your remodel project.
