Rosacea Relief By Matt Murren
There are several treatments for relief of rosacea but there is no complete cure. Among several research centers which have studied about the causes and treatment of rosacea, the Florida Medical Institute for Anti-aging has some recommendations to help combat this troublesome condition. Sometimes rosacea is severe enough to warrant advanced treatments such as surgical procedures. These methods are used when conditions become permanent like swollen blood vessels, redness in the skin, and severe nose problems that cause a particular degree of disfigurement. Electrosurgery and laser surgery are often recommended to make you look better and gain confidence. The medical institute I mentioned, as well as others, offers these two surgical procedures. Concerning medication, oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics, or even a combination of both is effective relief from rosacea. Some prescribed drugs that minimize the red face appearance and the inflammatory skin. Medicines including metrogel, noretate, tinacea, and azelex are effective treatments for rosacea. Another medication called the Obagi Nu-derm system is a terrific skin care treatment. It provides improvement to the cell function in your skin and causes it to look more vibrant. It isn’t necessarily recommended for rosacea but some say it is helpful. Now, one drug (accutane) normally used for the treatment of systic acne is sometimes used in serious occurrences of rosacea. This treatment must be closely monitored by a doctor as it produces some intense side effects. It is linked with serious birth defects, increase in cholesterol, increase in enzymes in the liver, and even possible bowel problems. It has been concluded that oral antibiotics are much quicker to work than topical ones. Some more regularly prescribed oral rosacea treatments are erethromycin, tetracycline, and dexycycline. These are used in mild cases of rosacea. It usually takes a couple of months to see any marked or noticeable results from the medications, actually how long it will take will rest highly on how serious the symptoms are (especially the appearance of your skin.) Sometimes your prescriptions, mainly the topical ones need to be used long term in order to remain effective. Rosacea can occur in many areas of the body such as the face, neck, or even chest. It takes a doctor to determine the severity of your problem and tell you what you need. You can find tips for diminishing rosacea cosmetic symptoms, but the best solution will come from your doctor or dermatologist.
