Bathroom Wall Cabinets Installation Basics By Sal Farzin
Now that you have your bathroom wall cabinets delivered at your doorstep, the next thing you have to do with it is to install it. By now, you should have a fair idea where this furniture would go in your bathroom. Planning is very important when it comes to this furniture set. And that's because they are not very easy to install in the first place. Unlike most do-it-yourself items from the store, you may need to hire a handy man for this job.
You have to decide on the position of where it will be mounted and stick with it. Don't be fickle-minded because that attitude may cost you your entire wall. You have to know that installing cabinets is quite a task. And it would mean attaching nails and screws to the wall. If you change your mind about the position at the last minute, you might need to redo your wall.
You should know your reasons for putting up bathroom wall cabinets. If you are going to use the furniture purely for aesthetic reasons but have no intentions of put anything inside, you might want to consider other decorative items like paintings, perhaps. It's hard to find a cabinet that can be installed with minimal carpentry skills.
It is always best to hire an expert installer to complete the project. Once he arrives, tell him what you want to happen. Determine the actual position of the cabinet before asking him to start on the job. Of course, you can very well leave everything else in his hands - but it pays to check every so often to be sure that everything is coming out right.
When deciding where to put the cabinet, consider its size, style, and dimensions. Then compare it with the overall design of your bathroom. Check if the orientation is a perfect match to your toilet's own design. If your purchased bathroom wall cabinets are made with mirrors, the best position is somewhere above the lavatory. But of course, you're free to put them somewhere else. If you're not sure about where to put it, you can always ask for an interior designer's help. He should be able to come up with other good ideas for your bathroom too.
More than the actual position, it is also your job to make sure that all the things needed by the installer are within hand's reach. While the cabinet package usually comes with all the screws needed, you should still ask the installer about other things that he may require. The role of the screws is important. Its job is to properly mount the cabinet to the wall and support everything else that's inside it.
You might want to know for sure if you're using something that's really strong. It is also possible that the installer would need some wood glue or cement glue for better strength. If you want, you may ask the handy man to use more screws than what was required. This way, you can be sure that the cabinet won't fall down on you accidentally.
