Food And Water Is A World Crisis

By Rachel Yoshida

Food And Water Is A World Crisis

For those of us who have plenty of water at our disposal everyday, it can be hard to imagine what it would be like to not have enough. Actually, there are millions of people in some places of the world who do not have an adequate supply of even remotely clean water to use. Some of these people must walk for miles each day just to fill a few jugs with water that it is not even fit for consumption by animals, much less humans.

There are a lot of concerned people who are trying to help those that are faced with this situation. Wells are being dug nearer to where they live so they can have cleaner water. When they have cleaner water to drink and actually have enough of it, it helps tremendously with dehydration and the diseases and illnesses that can come from drinking bacteria filled water.

It is sad that in the world we live in today that there are still people who do not even have the basic necessities to stay alive and healthy. It should be impossible for people to see all the little children and babies who must live in the deplorable conditions that they are forced to and not feel an urgent compunction to do something. We have all seen the television commercials that show these very real people and how sick so many of them are. Could we in America stand by and watch our children have to live this way? We would be doing something the way we did when situations like hurricane Katrina. Water and supplies were sent by people all over the country to help them.

We can also help these other people in the world a lot easier than you would think. We also see commercials that plead for money to help these thirsty and starving people. For only a few dollars a month you can really contribute to their needs. When all the few dollars a month that can be provided by thousands of people here are added up, there is so much that can be done. Along with new wells for clean water, these foreign families can receive food, clothing, medical supplies, housing, and education. You might not believe that so little money would go so far.

When a donation from just one person stands alone, it will not make very much difference in the lives of the desperate, but when it is combined with many others it can make all the difference in the world. It can literally mean the difference between life and death.
