Not only will it help save paper, it also prevents the use of possibly harmful chemicals as you do not need to have your pictures developed anymore, you can just easily upload it to your PC or laptop.
Compact cameras will help you develop your photography skills. This really holds true especially for photography novices as digital cameras tend to be so easy to use, people will most likely tend to get lazy and will not learn the basics of how a great picture can be composed. Compact cameras are great when you want to learn the ins and outs of taking great pictures since everything is done manually just like with the pricier SLR cameras.
