The job of your profile is to let people know who you are, what you are about, what your dislikes and likes are, and what you are looking for from your online dating experience. If you have found that you are constantly getting responses from people who do not meet your needs or wants in a partner, you may need to revise your profile. If you are just starting out you will find that you can write a very effective profile.
Your online dating profile is your self marketing tool. If you write a good profile you are going to attract the kind of people that you want to meet. If you don't write it well and take your time you may get no responses or you may just get responses from all the wrong people.
One of the best tips that you can be given when you are setting up your online dating profile is to take your time. You have waited this long to get started, a few more hours or days until you can get your profile exactly the way you want it will not kill you. The key is to take your time writing a very concise and honest profile. If you rush through it, it won't be as well thought out and you may forget a lot of important points.
When you write your profile make sure that you use good grammar and that you present yourself well. Stay positive, even when you are talking about what you don't want to find online. When you stay positive it makes you more attractive. Negative people are a dime a dozen and this will turn readers of your profile off.
Be very clear about what you want. Being positive doesn't mean you can express what you want from a friend or romantic interest. When you are very clear you will let people know from the outset what your expectations are and people who do not feel the same need not get in contact with you. It will save you a lot of time down the road if you are honest and straight forward about what you want, though you should always try to put as positive a spin on it as possible!
Try to write more about the things that you are interested in than the things that you are not. Many people will spend and exhausting amount of time saying what they don't like to do rather than focusing on what you do like to do. Talk about your hobbies, your goals, and your plans as this will help you attract people who have similar goals.
