Winning the Michigan Lottery With Statistics By Allen Wright
Let me start off by telling you that there is no guaranteed system of winning the lottery, so don't fool yourself into thinking there is. There are ways, however, to increase your odds of picking winning numbers. If we look at the math behind the lottery, we can find a few ways to help ourselves out.
The Mega Millions game that's played in the Michigan lottery is called a 5/56 and 1/46 game. That adds up to a 1 in 176 million chance of picking all the winning numbers, or to put it another way, you're more likely to get struck by lightening twice in one day. However, if we look at the math behind the probability and statistics, we can find a few ways to significantly increase our odds.
A Simple Lottery System We can better find ways to increase our odds if we simplify things a little bit. To start out, let's look at eliminating one number. That means buying 11 tickets that each contain one of the numbers from 1 to 56. That means you are guaranteed to have a ticket with one winning number. Get it? For a cost of only $11 you can increase the probability that you'll have a jackpot ticket to 1 in 16,895,340, or a ten times increase in your odds. And for only $11! That's a very large payoff for a small investment. Of course, you're still in the realm of incredibly unlikely to win, but you're out of the realm of two lightning strikes in one day.
If we look at the historical record of numbers drawn for the Mega Millions jackpot, we can see some trends emerging. The most probable combination of numbers is three odd and three even. That means that 1/3 of the time there are three even and three odd numbered balls on the tray after the drawing. Further, a lottery drawing with no consecutive numbers occurs only once ever two weeks, and the most common sequence is three high and three lower numbers. So if we want to take advantage of these observations, we need to pick three even and three odd numbers that are an even mix of high and low with no consecutive numbers.
The last thing to keep in mind is to know what was drawn for the previous two weeks. The most likely drawing will have no numbers from the previous week, and no two numbers from the week before that. Keep all these tips in mind and you can maximize your odds of winning.
