Christmas cards for businesses: a must-have for most industries By Tiffany Childs
Every year businesses and corporations send out thousands of holiday cards to clients, customers and partners. There are many reasons for sending these cards that can help your business. For instance, personalized holiday cards can improve current business relationships or attract new customers. They can also serve as a reminder to old customers that your business is still around or show that you appreciate the clients that support your business the most. Everyone likes to receive a Christmas or holiday card. Sending them out helps people to see you as a real human being rather than just a nameless corporation. Sending a photo card makes it even more personal. As an added bonus sending out Christmas cards can help you update or even create a client list. And a holiday card with your business logo on it is just another way of branding your business.
Sending a personalized holiday card does take some planning though. First you’ll want to get your list together in one easily useable and accessible database. If you have a small list you can likely hand-write holiday cards for an added personal touch. However, if you’ve been around for a long time preprinted cards are just as effective in conveying your message. Just be sure to include a truthful message because the authenticity will show!
Also, be mindful that different people celebrate different holidays. If you aren’t sure whether your client celebrates Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa or something else the try to send a generic holiday card to avoid offending anyone.
Be sure to include ways a client can contact you in your holiday card, such as a phone number, website or email address. You can even just use a stamp or have this information preprinted to make it easier for you. Or simply include a business card.
Finally, make sure you are sending out quality business cards on paper with a good stock. The quality of your Christmas card reflects on the sender. You should always buy the best holiday card you can afford. And get them out on time. What do you think a customer will think about a business that sends a late Christmas card? Most likely they’ll think you’re either lazy or disorganized, perhaps both. Or worse, they’ll feel unimportant to you.
Sending personalized holiday cards to clients and customers embrace the American tradition of sending cards, but they also let clients and customers know they are important to you. And that is something that is very important when it comes to establishing, keeping or growing any business relationship.
