Social Networking: MySpace & Facebook Safety, Security, Privacy & Aggregation By Tony Colon
Quick question...are you a social networker or know someone who is? If so, then we have a lot in common. We have joined the ranks of an estimated 173 million social network users in the US. Chances are we have multiple profiles, user names, passwords, and "friends" across various social networking sites like YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, and others.
Fact: A recent comScore Media Metrix study shows over 50 percent crossover of profiles between MySpace and other top sites like YouTube, Facebook, SixApart, Xanga, Hi5, Bebo, Friendster and Piczo. That figure really demonstrates a need for a social networking aggregation service.
Do you find collaborating with the variety of profiles and messages across each social site tedious and time-consuming? After all, you can't and don't want to be active on too many social network sites. You simply don't have the time to spend checking messages and keeping up with all the action in all those different "so-called" walled gardens.
That's why you'll probably end up only active on one or two sites such as Myspace and Facebook, like I did. Unfortunately, you lose out on all the great benefits of joining other social networking sites.
Do you find it near impossible to manage multiple profiles and user names/passwords, and ultimately, have no connectedness? This became a nightmare for me!
If that wasn't bad enough, I started getting freaked out about other disturbing issues at hand...
Safety's At Stake Have you ever questioned your and/or your loved ones' online space safety, security and privacy? You should! I have delved into this subject and was shocked to discover fraud, controversy, scandal and other hazardous conditions uncovered such as online predators, identity thieves, and scams. These issues are tough to avoid online.
Take my word for it or simply do a search on Google for "myspace safety", "social networking safety" and "social networking privacy". You'll get an eye-full! Like I did, you'll find scary stories of even murderers who have used popular social networks to find victims!
Avid users of social networks can rest assured that all that's about to change for the better thanks to companies offering safe, secure & private social networking aggregation tools.
My view of the world changed when my identity was stolen off my favorite social networking site ...
My credit cards, driver's license - everything had to be changed. It was a terrible experience. I think it started about a year earlier when I got an invitation from somebody that I have never heard of. I didn't really think about it at the time, but later when a collection agency called, I was scared. These collection companies are downright rude, and it really upset me. But it wasn't just once - it started happening daily, at home and at my workplace. It's embarrassing to get these calls at work, believe me. I couldn't really scream back at the women that was attacking me.
I told my story to a few friends, and one of them sent me some helpful reports on these issues.
Eventually I had to get an expensive lawyer, and publish stuff in the newspaper, and after about 18 months, my life started to get back to normal. I felt like I had entered the underworld after all that - all these scary, ugly people saying really nasty things, and no one believed anything I said.
It made me realize just how vulnerable we all are. If you are a member of any social networking site, you can be ripped off!
Since then, I have been very careful, and have looked for a solution that prevents identity theft from occurring through social networks. And identity theft prevention is just one service you must look for - others you should concern yourself with are social networking safety, security, privacy, aggregation help and more, all under one convenient web-based solution.
When you find that solution, teamed up with them immediately to turned your life around by actually managing and connecting all your different social networking profiles under one username and password. That would be total connectedness heaven!
Pretty cool, and after my experience, I think everyone should get these reports - it stops identity thieves, predators and scam artists in their tracks.
