Bathroom Refurbishing. Types Of Bathroom Vanities For You To Consider

When you're building a new house with a new bathroom, or else refurbishing your bathroom, one of the most important decisions you have to make is the bathroom vanity that you choose. Bathroom vanities come in many different shapes, sized and styles, and it pays to know a little about them before you start shopping for vanities.

Your choice of bathroom vanity is an important one. Your vanity dictates the ultimate look of your bathroom, and it dictates the style of bathroom that you choose. You should choose your bathroom vanity before you start choosing your other bathroom furniture.

Of course the vanity most likely isn't the only piece of bathroom furniture you'll have in your bathroom. There are lots of other related pieces of bathroom furniture available that add function to your bathroom and add storage space as well. There are wide ranges of bathroom cabinets, including wall cabinets and medicine cabinets, recessed and open cabinets and toilet storage cabinets and shelving, all of which should be considered as storage options when looking for ideas for bathroom storage. But choices on all these should be made after you make your first choice on the look and style of your vanity. Your secondary furniture should be chosen to go with the style of the vanity that you have chosen.

So what should you know about vanities when making your choice? Bathroom vanities come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but basically they are made around a standard height of 30 inches, and are availabl in widths to 48 inches wide. The narrowest vanity is usually 18 inches, but a vanity that narrow should rarely be used except in very narrow spaces, as it does not look right in most bathrooms, and is best used just as a single hand basin in toilets.

There are a range of different choices when it comes to vanity construction materials, but by far the most popular is timber. Wooden vanities look great and offer a wide range of different styles to choose from, dictated by the timber chosen and the finish. Of course there is a wide range of different timbers available to choose from when buying you bathroom vanity. Oak, cherry and myrtle are all popular, but you will find the range of timbers offered to be huge. Almost all timber vanities are made with laminated timber rather than from solid timber, but ultimately this doesn't matter, laminated timber makes a fine vanity that you'll be happy with, and is much cheaper than a solid wood vanity cabinet.

And then of course there are also a range of different timber looks which are achieved by the use of stains on a simple, cheap and light colored timber such as pine. A pine vanity is cheap to make as pine is cheap, and can be made to look very good through the use of stains and varnishes, and these can look just as good as the more expensive up market vanities using more expensive timbers.

And if you're handy you can even buy an unfinished pine vanity and finish it yourself to save some money.

If you go to one of the more well known stores you can spend thousands buying yourself an expensive bathroom vanity. However with the advent of online shopping you should be able source a discount bathroom vanity without too much trouble. Many of the regular stores also sell online, usually at heavily discounted prices, and the canny shopper should spend a little time doing some online research about the different vanities discounted online. There are usually many to choose from and it's possible to make some heavy savings over regular prices retail purchase items.

When it comes to choosing a bathroom vanity for your bathroom there's a lot of choices. Not just the type of look you want, but the size, shape, style and timber and finish. And then it's important to spend some time deciding where to buy your vanity to make sure you get the best deal.

So don't rush buying your vanity for your bathroom, there's a lot to think about and some important choices to make.
