The importance of getting a college education

So you're finishing high school, and wondering whether going to college is the right decision. The lure of a good wage can be tempting for students who have been used to being short on money, and compared to the cost of going to college this can be a deciding factor for some people.
However, the importance of getting a college education should not be underestimated. College graduates on average earn a lot more than people who only have a high school education. This is because in today's competitive market the highest paid jobs require a Bachelors degree, and someone who has had a college education can command a higher wage because of their expertise.
College graduates also have man other benefits that aren't purely financial. Going to college helps to instil a sense of right and wrong amongst the students which will last their life time. A college education and experience is something that will never drop in value.
The importance of getting a college education has become even more apparent in recent years because many more people around the world are going on to higher education. The global work force is becoming more educated, so American people need to go onto higher education to keep up with the fast paced work place of the globe. People who go to college tend to be able to contribute to the American society in a greater way than those with just a high school education because of their extra social and academic skills.
