As much as possible, buy high-quality tools so that you wont experience problems during the restoration process. The tools play a big part in the restoration process. In case the tools you use are not good enough and become damaged in the middle of the restoration process, you will surely experience delay and unnecessary interruptions.
Check The Weight Of The Components
Before starting, you should have an idea how light or heavy the military vehicle will be so that you can be prepared with the different types of equipment that you will use during the restoration or repairing process.
You may need a forklift or a front-end loader. Although you may think that some of the jobs can be done by two people lifting the different components, there will still be instances when a forklift or front-end loader can be more useful or advantageous.

When you plan to repair or restore a military vehicle, you should prepare a large working area so that you can gain access to all parts of the vehicle. You will also find a spacious working area advantageous to you when you are going to lift and transfer equipment.
If possible, secure a spacious covered area so that you can work no matter what the weather is. Your working area must also have electricity so that you can use lights, air compressors, and welding machines. It would also be better if your working area has cooling fans, heating, and other ventilation requirements so that you can work in favourable ventilating conditions.
Gear Up
Preparing the tools, equipment and work area is not enough. The final step you have to take before you can finally say that you are ready to take on a military vehicle restoration project is to prepare the protective gear that you will need.
Gloves, masks and other safety gear are all necessary so that you wont end up getting skinned knuckles, scratches, burns, and cuts.
