The French language, considered by some to be the most romantic in the world, is currently spoken by approximately 350 million people world wide, as a first or second language.
The language which finds its origins in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxemburg today is the official language of 31 different countries and is spoken informally in many more. The French language as it exists today is the result of a long and complex evolution.
The name, France, actually comes from the name of the Germanic tribe, the Franks, who entered France during late antiquity and gradually became the dominant people. Learning French online is becoming more and more popular for a variety of reasons. It's cheap, easy to access and there's no need for a schedule or planning to have a lesson once a week, you can learn entirely at your own pace.
