Getting a person into treatment is probably more important than the actual treatment itself. At least, once the person is convinced to get into treatment, the treatment center will look after providing the proper care. But if there is a person within your family who needs some kind of addiction treatment but is not accepting it, then it becomes a precarious situation. The various kinds of intervention in Louisiana help in bringing such people into the right kind of addiction treatment.
What is intervention actually? An intervention program is when a single person or a group of people come together with the express intention of convincing a person to seek admission in a treatment center for the addiction. These people could belong to various groups, but they are mostly people from the family and those living in the same house as the patient. Friends and other people can also become part of an intervention team, but it is vitally important that each person in the intervention must yield some sort of influence over the person and must have complete diligence towards getting the person into the addiction treatment program.
In an intervention in Louisiana, there will typically be three to seven people who will come together and discuss and implement methods to bring the person out of the denial process. However, these people could be from different groups and some from the most unlikely of places. The family intervention is the most important kind of intervention in Louisiana, but there are definitely other kinds of intervention programs too. 1. Family Intervention
Let us begin with family intervention in Louisiana because this is the most popular kind of intervention. Here some people will come together from the family in order to take the person out of the addiction. One of their main pursuits will be to express their love and affection to the person and make them know that they want them in a sober form back again. They will tell the person of the various things they are missing out on by staying in the addiction and how these can be easily got back by giving up the addiction.
The pattern followed here is generally to speak to the patient to make them feel all these things. However, the speeches can be rehearsed before so that there are no mistakes and so that each member of the intervention team knows what the other is saying, to avoid repetition.
2. Employer Intervention
Employer intervention in Louisiana is definitely one of the most significant kinds of intervention programs. Here the employer comes forward to participate in the intervention program for an employee. The employer might work singularly or in combination with a family intervention group. In any case, the employer will intimate the family about his or her participation in the intervention program for the employee.
So how does this work for the employer? Firstly, we must know that through the Employer Assistance Program (EAP), employers are asked to provide humane working conditions for their employees and to ensure that they remain in fit mental and bodily health in order to carry out their tasks. Towards this end, the government supports them by funding some part of the treatment and the rest is collected by a value added plan. Then, we must know if the employer does not participate in the intervention in Louisiana, he or she might be losing out on an employee and it is not easy to recruit new people and train them all the time.
3. Intervention by the Law
The law intervenes in addiction treatment in Louisiana if the person has been proved guilty of an offense committed under the influence of the addictive substance. The best example here is DUI, but there are of course crimes much more severe than that for which the law will intervene and ask for treatment. A drug court in Louisiana does this task. When a person is proved guilty for an offense, the drug court will ask them to complete a program in a drug school so that they can get back their privileges. If they do not complete the program, they may even stand the risk of imprisonment.
The best contribution of the drug court is that they help in bringing those people into treatment that would not be willingly acceptable for it. In that way, they are helping bringing down the rate of addiction by a significant extent.
