Rejoice if You Have Competition

Not very many companies would respond by thinking such a thing. Competition is exactly what you don’t want, is what many companies would believe. These are the people trying to steal away your customers, the companies trying to paint you as inferior to them, and the companies who want to kick you out of the marketplace.
Some of this may be true, but these are also the companies helping you to stay on top of your game. These are the people who are making sure that you’re doing the best job that you can to help your customers and attract new ones.
This is something most companies aren’t considering when they bemoan all the competition they have to deal with.
Everything you do will be better if you have some solid, strong competition to go up against. Let’s face it: if you don’t have to try as hard it becomes very easy to not try at all. Having a goal to work towards will always bring out the best in people, just like having something else to compete against will force you to go the extra yard that you might not have normally.
All of you marketing is going to be stronger. Your poster printing will be more effective and your brochures will be better designed. Also, you have another company to compare and contrast yourself against in order to show people just how effective you are.
Ask yourself which looks better: a poster that just tells people that a company is great, or a poster that states specific reasons why this company is better than the other. Of course, this isn’t just poster printing, either. Any kind of advertising is improved when a company has the opportunity to go into details about why they are an effective and helpful place to shop at.
When people have no choice in where to go they might not care as much about the company they shop at. But when they have two or three companies who are competing against each other, it makes their decision to shop at one of them more important, and can create a stronger sense of loyalty. That’s something you can’t get without some strong competition to go against.
Sometimes it isn’t easy to think about how much a competitor is improving you when you’re too concerned with staying ahead of them. Most of the time a person will only realize after looking back on things how much they were pushed and how much they improved because of the other people they were up against.
The next time you feel as if you have too many other companies you’re going up against, just remember that they’re doing you more of a favor than you might realize.
