Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is among the most common chronic health problems in America. Nearly five million people live with this condition, and half a million others are diagnosed with it each year. This disease can be slightly problematic, or it can become quite severe and impair normal life.

People with CHF undergo many deviations from their previous daily routines. They have to take drugs to relieve fluid accumulation and to lessen the work performed by their heart tissue. Several of these result in anxiety and fatigue. These drugs can also impair physical relationships with a spouse or significant other.

One other problem that individuals with this disease face is the requirement for significant dietary adjustments. Many have to stop eating red meat, avoid meals with a lot of fats or sodium, or restrict the quantity of liquids they consume each day. These people are instructed to lose weight and exercise to keep their bodies as fit as possible.

The truth is, however, persons with CHF no longer possess as much energy for physical activity as they previously did. Rather, they have to stand by as friends and relatives play tennis, swim, or work out. This results in despair and loneliness. Additionally, many patients mourn losing of physical strength and wellness.

The majority of patients who encounter this but are not yet of retirement age must also stop working. In addition to causing financial stress and depression, this may increase emotions of isolation and seclusion. They find themselves alone. Rather than of bantering with the person at the neighboring workspace, they stare at TV while everyone else continues their live.

Occasionally, people take depression or anti-anxiety drugs to manage these losses. Others opt for psychotherapy or group treatment to help them with fulfilling belongingness needs and processing the mourning induced through their freshly restricted lives.

A healthier method of dealing with this form of depression, however, has gained recent attention and achieved practically immediate approval among patients who have tried it. Additionally, unlike drugs or psychotherapy, this approach is quite inexpensive. Clients are able to learn its use without experiencing additional financial hardship.

This approach, which uses a combination of Ericksonian hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), helps clients to begin to relax and find harmony and tranquility in the midst of daily life. These techniques teach people to acknowledge the new restrictions in their lives while encouraging them to continue living life as completely as possible. Even depressed moods that result from drugs can be easily treated with the proper application of the methods available through hypnosis and NLP. Two of these techniques are anchoring and the Flash.

Ericksonian Hypnotherapy is often called conversational hypnosis. It includes methods for supplying post-hypnotic ideas embedded in a conversation or figure of speech. The positive aspect of this method is that it removes the resistance to directly suggested actions that is nearly always encountered when using more conventional forms of hypnosis.

Through anchoring, hypnotists and NLP Practitioners coach people to concentrate on positive thoughts and situations from the past in which they felt relaxed and capable. As the client becomes engrossed in these recollections, they are able to experience these emotions once more. The client then learns to make a concrete anchor for these feelings by touching two fingers together. The unconscious mind creates a connection between the physical touch of these two fingers, and the positive feelings. Later, when the client encounters a stressful or upsetting situation, an anchor is triggered through touching together these same two fingers, evoking feelings of peacefulness and calm.

The Flash method is also quite useful to people who are struggling to overcome depression. The Flash technique trains the mind to automatically utilize the negative thoughts that are causing anxiety and sadness, as triggers for positive perspectives that will create relaxation and happiness. Over time, clients soon become nearly unable to have negative thoughts!

Summary: People with CHF typically encounter sadness as a result of grieving over decline of their physical healthiness and well-being. Other components that can contribute to depression are medicines and money worries. Both Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP offer excellent strategies for assisting clients to deal with sadness without being forced to put forth enormous amounts of time and money.
