How to Advertise Offline By John Tanyishin
When you start an online business and work from home using your computer, getting visitors to your website is important. But you should also not neglect advertising offline.
You can create more awareness and publicity if both online and offline advertising are used effectively.
The most critical thing is not to forget your URL when advertising offline, you can also provide details like email address or contact number.
Here are some tips for doing offline advertising:
-Placing classified ads in newspapers and magazines. You must use this method with care because there are very limited people who flip through magazines looking at classified ads. Placing your ads on computer magazines will at least confirm that the readers are computer illiterate.
-Distributing flyers around your neighborhood, always ask for permission to distribute at popular shopping malls. If possible, distribute at locations where people are not rushing to work or to eat.
-Freebies! People love them, give away free CDs at computer or internet seminars, shows, fairs, etc. Always create a strong branding, nobody likes to receive junk stuff as well. You can also give away free mugs, free mouse pads, free bookmarks, free pens, etc.
-Be an expert and teach people to make money online using their computers while working at home. You can even charge them a fee for teaching them your know-how.
-Buying commercials on TV is an expensive way but it is sure to get attention. You can even make a program and sell it to production team, even better be invited as an expert to share your knowledge.
-Create partnerships with existing business owners, have them to help you advertise your business or create joint products which benefit all the parties involved.
-Get email address of other people, when attending seminars or meeting with new friends. Besides asking for phone numbers, ask for email address as well. You can later promote your business when they are online.
Lastly, you need to be aware that not everyone knows how to turn on a computer, always take note of the people you are targeting. If not, what you are doing is equivalent of throwing money into the pond.
Know your market well, your business is created to supply a demand of a crowd, know their behavior, needs and habits. This is utmost important. Plan your marketing campaign well, work in sync with your online promotion as well. The results will appear gradually, offline advertising is not for short-term. The main purpose is to create awareness rather than creating sales.
