Why Yoga and Fitness Go Hand and Hand By Seth Daugherty
There are so many good reasons to start doing yoga, it makes sense that being fit would be on the top of the list. Fitness and yoga go hand and hand because yoga has several different components that are probably missing from your other exercise routines. This is because yoga is about infusing the body, mind and soul, while helping strengthen the spinal cord. This is why it can be used to strengthen the entire body.
Yoga treats the body as a whole unit, and that means either the body is totally fit, or it is not. This is why yoga and fitness go together so well and why you cannot talk about yoga without talking about fitness.
- Body, Mind and Soul Connect:
Yoga is about your mind, body and soul. These three things are supposed to connect in a way that is unique to yoga. Yoga makes you fit, partly because it works on both your physical and spiritual well being.
With both the spiritual and physical sides combined, it can be argued that this will give you a healthier state of mind and will thus lead to a lifestyle that will keep you fit, and more importantly, giving you the desire to stay fit.
- The Spine:
Many forms of yoga focus on flexing the spinal connection and this is because the spine is connected to all the other body systems. Some believe that yoga works so effectively because it helps to straighten the spine. The spine has something called cerebrospinal fluid, which is the fluid around the spinal cord. This fluid is responsible for sending signals to other systems in the body. This would include the nervous system, the digestive system and overall circulation. This is why it can lead to a feeling of fitness that may never be experienced by someone who has never tried yoga.
- Body Strength:
As we mentioned earlier, yoga uses the entire body, and has a holistic approach to strength. Because of this holistic approach, yoga can conceivably make you fit throughout your entire body, because it doesn't leave any body parts out of the equation.
The yoga movements involve both concentration, as well as control over your body, and in turn this helps you to understand your body. This is why it strengthens your body and will also help you keep fit but not just fit in one or two specific areas but throughout your entire body. This is the holistic approach to yoga and why it will certainly keep you fit for life.
