Advertising Techniques to Avoid By Robert Johnston
Almost every single business in operation, big and small, uses brochures to advertise. If you own a small business, you certainly want to follow suit. However, you need to find ways to make your brochures stand out from the millions of others out there. You have to provide information that your customers are not getting from anywhere else.
Here are a few rather unique ideas that you can incorporate into your next brochure printing project. As a general rule, you will not want to use more than one or two of these ideas on any one brochure. Otherwise, you may overwhelm your readers.
Customer Testimonials These are tremendous marketing tools. People are very easily persuaded by the positive (or negative) comments of people who have already used your products or services. You should get in the habit of collecting testimonials from all of your customers. Use the negative responses you get to improve your business; use the positive ones in your brochures.
Case Studies If you are lucky enough to have access to a case study that adds a positive element to your advertising, use it in a brochure. Case studies can be a very powerful tool for your business. You can even conduct your own case study to use in your marketing efforts. Whatever you use, however, be sure to properly reference your sources.
A Biography Customers are often interested in how your business came into operation. If you have an interesting story to tell, tell it! A brochure that includes background information about your company can do a great deal for your advertising campaign.
Explain Your Process My brother owns a woodworking company. He makes tissue box covers out of wood. He once had a brochure designed that simply explained his process. It showed pictures of him in each stage of the tissue box cover building process, along with brief captions that explained each picture. The response that he got from that brochure was both amazing and surprising. Many customers told him that the brochure validated his business in their minds, because they knew he was truly making a hand-crafted product.
If you can incorporate descriptions of your process into your brochure, take advantage of it!
Tell Them about Your Services A brochure that explains the services that you provide can also be effective. Simply explain everything that you can do for your customers, and how you can do it. Try to set your company apart from your competitors by explaining how you are better. Make it obvious that you are willing to go above and beyond where other companies will go to make your customers happy.
Use these ideas to add a fresh element to your next brochures. Make your brochures stand out and be more effective than the millions of others out there.
