Come Play Golf in the Mountains of North Carolina

North Carolina is not only known for its great real estate as seen with Asheville Luxury Homes and the Smoky Mountain Homes, it is also known for its great and beautiful mountains which have formed into great golf courses for the golf aficionado. North Carolina can be considered the golfer's paradise because of its challenging landscapes, whether in the heartland, on the coast, or in the mountains . No need to worry about the rains dampening your trip. North Carolina boasts of its blue skies that guarantee smooth golfing all the way.

The professional and novice golfer can find numerous courses to pick from, including the Pinehurst Country Club, Grandfather Golf Club, and Wade Hampton Club: three golf courses that are considered some of the top 100 courses in the country by the respected magazine Golf Digest. This article provides a brief description of some of the golf courses you can choose from when you visit North Carolina.

1. Pinehurst. While professionals are much more likely to have low scores on the #2 course, there are 4 other courses available at the club. These may not necessarily be as difficult as the #2 course, which requires much skill in order to obtain low scores.

2. Pine Knolls. The course in this club also has an 18-hole regulation length course. It has 3 tee box sets to add more spice to the golfing experience. Online tee times are usually offered at lower rates than normal, and these are available at nearby golf courses or at Pine Knolls.

3. Talamore Golf Club. Since 1991, this golf course has garnered much acclaim and praise, enhancing the reputation of the Pinehurst area, which has long been known as a prime spot for golfers in the past century. You can also have the unique experience of having a llama as a caddy.

4. Beacon Ridge. The golf and country club in beacon ridge has a classic layout that can provide a challenge to golfers of varying skills and abilities. You can even bring your children because they can play for free. Traditional golfers will surely find their home here.

5. Bluff Golf Links. Golf does not have to be played in plaid pants, this course seems to say. This isn't a country club, so you can don your favorite pair of jeans and enjoy an affordable and relaxing round of golf with friends and family members. It is definitely one place to go if you want to go golfing in NC.

6. Whispering Pines. A semi-private Country Club that is privately-owned has two championship golf courses that are considered to be some of the best courses in North Carolina. Ellis Maples, the world-famous designer, laid out both the East and the West courses that have Pencross bent grass and Bermuda fairways.

7. Deecroft Golf Club. It is considered to Sandhills' best-kept secret because of its beauty and seclusion. It has also hosted the PGA Tour Qualifier in 1986.

8. Foxfire Resort and Golf. This has a 36-hole course with beautiful scenery consisting of rolling hills, sandy soils, and peaceful lakes as designed by architect Gene Hamm. You can play on a traditional layout where you can clearly see and assess possible dangers.

9. Legacy Golf Links. It is one of three courses in Pinehurst that has hosted the USGA National Championship in the past. Designed by Jack Nicklaus II, this golf course is a definite must on the itinerary of golfers.

10. Little River Golf and Resort. Its previous incarnation as an equestrian landmark has been converted into a championship golf course of legendary proportions. You can see elevation changes of as much as 200 feet, thick forests, and winding rivers. This is definitely a must-play course for serious and casual players alike.

Golfing in NC has never been better than today. Aside from the great real estate that North Carolina boasts of in Asheville Luxury Homes, Smoky Mountain Homes and Maggie Valley Tours, it is the home of some of the best golf courses in the US.
