Digital cameras evolution, be part of it By Francisco Segura
With no longer any need for film, digital cameras have started a whole new era for photography. Storing the information as digital-bytes is how this type of camera keeps the pictures you have taken, safe and ready to view, store or print! Since the images captured are in electronic form, this is a language recognized by computers. Although the image looks exactly the same as that of a normal photograph, they are stored as pixels.Just like conventional cameras, this type is furnished with a series of lenses that focus the light and creates the image that you want to capture. Using an electronic system, a lower specification digital camera does away with film although it is still capturing the light as with a traditional camera. If you are using a more expensive type, the system used there is a CCD sensor. The CMOS device is used in cheaper cameras and does the same work as a CCD but it is doubtful that this system will replace those devices in the quality models. The price has been depreciating recently and one of the main reasons for this is the introduction of CMOS image sensors; because CMOS sensors are less expensive and are easier to manufacture than CCD sensors. It would take an experienced digital camera enthusiast to see the difference between an images captured with a CMOS against the superior CCD system. Shopping for one of these types of camera can be daunting but a few tips can make all the difference. Look for models with over 6 megapixels and you won't go far wrong as they will provide decent images; the higher the resolution of the camera the bigger the photos that can be printed. Many people rave about a digital cameras zoom power but the image is being artificially magnified so always try for an optical zoom even if it is one with only a low magnifying power; even a camera with a three times optical zoom is worth having. Don't waste your money on standard disposable batteries as rechargeable ones these days are very affordable and long lasting which could save you hundreds of dollars on standard ones. Most models come equipped with some sophisticated software that can create interesting shots; functions like those listed here for instance:

Video capture

Time lapse (i.e. one shot every 5 minutes for example)

Negative image

You will also need something to store the captured images on especially with the high megapixel models available today. With higher resolution models now the norm, forget anything lower than 1GB of storage space if you want to save the image at the highest resolution. If your camera is going accompany you wherever you go, then you will need to consider its size. So by doing this you won't feel as if you are a journalist or nature photographer wherever you go. I hope these few tips will help you choose a camera you enjoy using for a long time. The future of photography has moved on and digital cameras are that future with almost everyone carrying around one type or another every day!
