Be Safe And Sound Not Sorry Whilst Involving In Dating Sites By Isaiah Henry
Technology is now an integral part of our every day lives and it is so easy to become comfortable with many forms of communication. We regularly receive and read Emails from complete strangers without blinking an eye. We are also now more accessible than ever, thanks to portable devices like cell phones, laptops and the PDA.
No one can argue that technology has improved our lives in many ways. There could be a downside, however, when using technology to find a partner. Online dating sites are plentiful and most are quite reputable. Anyone who relies upon online dating, however, should keep the following in mind: these sites are in business to make money, period. The best sites do screen individuals, but screening is minimal at best.
You have the right to be optimistic about meeting new people, but you should be cautiously optimistic. What do we mean by that statement? Only that not everyone you will encounter in Cyberspace is worthy of your immediate trust. Exercising the following may help you to meet the person of your dreams and to do so safely.
Representation - This may be the most important aspect of the entire online dating community. After all, the only thing that prospective mates are going to know about you is what you tell them. The converse is also true; you will only know as much as the other person wants to reveal. As much as we would like to, we cannot take everyone at their word, it is not wise to do so.
Dont Reveal Private Details - It is not a good idea to post your home address, pictures of your home, your private email address or telephone numbers when completing your online profile. Keep these things under your hat until you know the people you are communicating with. This is not to say that everyone on dating sites is a dangerous stalker, but some may be and you owe it to yourself to be careful.
Dont Reveal Everything at First - Keep private things private, at least for awhile. There is no reason to post your home address, pictures of your home that reveal its location, your personal email address or a list of phone numbers on your online profile. Yes, most people wouldnt dream of tracking you down -- they will wait to be invited into your life. There are, however, people that have motives which could pose a danger to you. Hold on to the important stuff until you are sure your new friend can be trusted.
Be Truthful Just as you want possible partners to tell the truth, you should adhere to the same principle. Its not a question of morality (people can do what they choose) but rather it is one of safety. If you tell someone you are single and you are actually married they may become angry or violent when then find out your true marital status. Should a revelation such as this provoke violence? Of course not, but remember you have no idea about the temperament or stability of the person on the other end of your internet connection.
Online dating can be a wonderful experience; many people find true love this way. In order to ensure your experiences are good you should keep safety uppermost in your mind.
