This is not to say that everyone on dating sites is a dangerous stalker, but some may be and you owe it to yourself to be careful.
Don�t Reveal Everything at First - Keep private things private, at least for awhile. There is no reason to post your home address, pictures of your home that reveal its location, your personal email address or a list of phone numbers on your online profile. Yes, most people wouldn�t dream of tracking you down -- they will wait to be invited into your life. There are, however, people that have motives which could pose a danger to you. Hold on to the important �stuff� until you are sure your new friend can be trusted.
Be Truthful � Just as you want possible partners to tell the truth, you should adhere to the same principle. It�s not a question of morality (people can do what they choose) but rather it is one of safety. If you tell someone you are single and you are actually married they may become angry or violent when then find out your true marital status. Should a revelation such as this provoke violence? Of course not, but remember you have no idea about the temperament or stability of the person on the other end of your internet connection.
Online dating can be a wonderful experience; many people find true love this way. In order to ensure your experiences are good you should keep safety uppermost in your mind.
