Why You Should Consider Granada

When you think of getting away from it all, many pictures spring to mind. Every single one of us has a dream of a perfect holiday. We want to stay in comfortable hotels or accommodation, we want peace and we want tranquil surroundings. But we also all thrive on culture, metropolitan buzz and exploration. So with all these thoughts in mind, why have you not considered Granada? This Spanish city has all you need for a perfect getaway.
One of the most impressive features of Granada is the Alhambra. This is a series of palaces and compounds which were built by the Nazari Dynasty in the 14th century. This is the ideal setting for the summer palace, right at the foot of the Sierra Vevada mountain range which overlooks the city of Granada.
Granada is famous for its once thriving gypsy community. The Sacromonte Hill which overlooks the town from the north is a great place for an excursion. There you will find an abundance of cave paintings and other artefacts left by the gypsies when they inhabited those parts.
The whole area is one fertile plane which will allow you to bask in the endless greenery. What better way could you think of spending the perfect getaway than to step out onto your hotel balcony with the scent of fresh coffee and a view of nature all around you. Most things in Granada are in close proximity, so you can do as much walking as you like. There are always places to stop along the way for a light meal or a drink. If you are able to book your accommodation for the peak season then you will notice tourists from around the world as long as tourists from other parts of Spain.
Granada is steeped in culture. With so many conquering cultures adding their own pieces throughout history, you will be fascinated by the various sets of architecture. Booking into a hotel or self-catering holiday apartment in the older parts of the town will give you a great sense of what the town is about. Just a brisk walk through the town will put you in the mood for a day of sightseeing. There are many museums and cultural galleries to choose from in short walking distance from your accommodation.
The hill facing the Alhambra is home to streets filled with quaint, white-washed houses with their neatly kept inner gardens. This will provide you with a day of walking throughout the maze of houses before heading back into town for lunch at one of the excellent restaurants scattered around.
Booking early would be advisable as Granada is becoming a popular getaway for travellers who want to experience something vastly different. The best time to go is in the spring and summer months where the Spanish sun will wake you up nice and early in your hotel room bed to start a day of relaxation and revival.
